I downloaded cineforms aspect HD trial for premiere pro 2 and it installed with the program flawlessly.

I then made sure I hade the correct PC drivers for the HVX present on my box - which was the installation of the "USB (hvx handheld)" driver. I got that installed fine as well.

I then installed the "P2" viewer and was able to see my clips on the PC with no problem.

I made sure My Win XP was service pack 2, which it was.

I ran into a problem after I restarted my computer and tried to connect my camera to the computer, When I looked into the "Device manager" under the sound and video drivers I could not see the "a/v tape device" there. I tried this on 4 machines and it produced the same results.

I'm assuming this driver needs to be present inorder to capture through "HD LINK" in cineform.

I've tried connecting the camera so many times and in so many different ways on four different computers (3 dell 380 series and one fujitsu laptop) I'm just all out of possiblities. I just need that a/v tape device to show up.

I don't know if there is any other software that I need to install on a PC other than the "USB" driver for the cam to show up in the device manager under a/v but if you guys know PLEASE REPLY. Thanks all

If you connect with a firewire cable to a PC you'll get an a/v device.
If you connect with USB, you won't get an a/v device appear at all. What should appear are extra removable drives which are the P2 cards. You can see the file contents of the P2 cards, specifically the mxf files.
This is what cineform is after. Its going to convert those mxf files on the P2 cards into avis. You could also copy the contents folder onto a local hard disk and then convert them. Cineform is not going to capture from your camera, thats a different workflow and you'd need a different program for this (DV Rack 2 HD). Its only the convert Tab in cineform that is of use to you here. (The capture tab in cineform HD link is for HDV capture I believe, please correct me someone if I'm wrong on this)

I'd maybe suggest some reading of the manual/help files to fully understand the workflows of the HVX200.
Cineform Aspect HD is a great product, BTW, I've been using it happily for a while now.
I also use DV Rack 2 HD, for live capture from the camera via firewire.

I copied the files onto my server and selected "VIDEO" in the hdlink path and it could not capture. I tried dragging the .mxf files into the capture window and nothing again. You said to drag the contents onto your local hardrive. Does it need to be local? and after the files are local then what Function of Cineform do I use if its not HDLINK. Where do I drag the MXF files specifically. I need a breakdown here. Thanks Milezee and everyone else that contributes.

The process is described on page 24 of the Aspect HD user manual (located in the CineForm folder in your Windows Start Menu).

Run HDLink and click on the Convert Tab. Then click the 'Select' button and browse to the VIDEO folder where your mxf files are. Then press 'Ctrl-A' to select all the files and then click 'Open'.

Now click 'Start'. That should do it. The manual describes it in more detail and if you have any problems, contact support@cineform.com.
