I've been using the FS-100 with our HVX for a couple of weeks now and I love the tapeless workflow. I was wondering a couple of things...

1. Do clips capture to FS save the settings for each shot? Like EXIF data from still cameras?

2. I'm still unclear when and when not to use the Remove Redundant Frames option when importing into FCP. I'm shooting DVCPro50 right now.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

With issue 1), if you are referring to the metadata that is created by the camera, FS-100 does retain this information and creates XML files that are identical to what is recorded to the P2 card. If you drag the XML files (in the CONTENTS/CLIPS menu) into a browser, you will be able to see this information.

Regarding Issue 2), Remove Redundant Frames is only for use with DVCPRO HD recordings, not DV or DVCPRO 50. BenB's new tutorial http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=77206&page=3 in this thread covers when to use it very well as does our FCP workflow white paper on the Focus support site.

Also, there's a help PDF on the FRC hidden deep inside the FCP 5.1.2 app package. I extracted it and put it here, great info:
