4 Zeis prime lens for 12-15k, sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Is this a joke or something? I heard about the Zacuto DOF adaptor a while back reading through the forum but haven't seen or read any posting for a while. For 14k, must be something special about it. Doesn't look like a flipped adaptor at all. Maybe the cost is in the prime lenses. But 14K. woah!... If I have 14K, I will gladly wait for the RED.

Yep, like I said, I was surfing the web and this little expensive item came up. I think its beyond the reach of most of us in the DIY crowd.

You really should e-mail them that quote.

Zeiss primes are included in that price and that's pretty damned significant. Granted $14K is a lot of money. But the RED zoom lense is $9500 by itself. Generally, when you're looking at these 35mm adapters, they're not even including Nikon or Canon still lenses, let along Zeiss primes.

Yeah, but you're also not paying thousands of dollars. I'm sure a manufacturer of a 35mm adapter would throw in Nikon or Canon glass for the right price. :D

Looks like they are using a fresnel alone, that's my guess. A fresnel alone, designed with the particular focal length of the lens in mind can omit the need for a gg or screen of any kind. That is why it needs a different one for each lens. Not an optical engineer, but have talked to them and learned a few things in my own R&D.

well, that's not particularly secret. The MPIC uses a Beattie screen, which is basically just a fresnel.

I dont know if I personally would spend that kind of change, but I do have to say that they make awesome gear, are a great place to rent gear, and are super friendly. That's been my experience since I found out about them last spring...

Im sorry to bring this back and i am in no way affiliated with zacuto but first let me point out that zeiss primes are not cheap lenses haha were talking about thousands and thousands of dollars here I really dont know but im gues s those 4 primes gotta be between 5-10k And also zacuto is primarly a rental house meaning this package will be avaliable for rent and probably at a very good rate as they do have excellent rates on there cameras compared to other rental houses I have delt with in the chicago area (250 day rate on hvx!!! so good) yea its out of the league for most people to own but i think itll be great to rent for productions. my only fear is you wont be able to stop the lenses down on it similar to how with the movie tube adapter you cant stop down the lenses because there is no moving gg.

Holy run-on sentence Batman! I think we all kinda figured from the price alone
that it would be a rental package. But enough about the price!

Pfoof's n' da puddin'! Show me some footage!:)

i was in there about a week ago and they were doing tests. I was respectful and didn't want to pry - however, zacuto are rockstars in my video world.

Interesting that Zacuto offers Zeiss ZF aka "Super Breathers" with such a pricey package. Those 50mm and 85mm primes cost $500 and $1000 each and wide angle will cost somewhere $800...
Don`t mix up cine and still primes here.
