Everytime I look at your projects, I notice that your posters look very professional... what kind of sw do you usually use to make them?

Most people are probably using photoshop. I just used a program called fireworks, which is part of Dreamweaver MX.

I used fireworks for a year or two and then decided that photoshop fit better into my workflow (adobe baby!) -- it's also an industry standard, but, to each his own!

I just use the schools pc and fiddle around with it "trying" to work the program. Then finding that i accidently downloaded the program onto a blank cd. Which of course randomly turned up in my cd drive which made me like "WTF"...."Why wont it work on my pc" =/

For about $99, you can get Photoshop Elements, which has most of the features of the $400 full program. It actually has better photo tools than the full program- from what I heard.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS (I use CS2 at work and I like CS better) and InDesign if I want to do something for print.
I started using Photoshop about ten years ago and at first could do nothing but apply filters to photographs, then I picked up a copy of the Photoshop WOW book and followed all the tutorials. Once you figure out what's possible, your skillset within the program sort of builds exponentially. I can't think of much one can't achieve in PS. The secret is practice, practice and more practice. Not tooting my own horn here, just trying to encourage those who may be intimidated by the program.
