PAL (land) or NTSC here in the states both use the same resolutions for their HDTV standards.
720p meaning 1280 x 720 progressive frames.
and 1080p meaning: 1920 x 1080 progressive frames. the frame rate however is what is different. 25p for pal land and 24p for ntsc. the resolutions are now universal in the HD era which is nice :)
hope that clears it up a bit

Thats the whole point 720p ....1280x 720
and 1920x 1080 when Im choosing to record in 1080i its the [i] that states its Interlaced but there is no setting for 1080p in the camera so again why do people on here refer to recording with the hvx 200 as 1080p do they mean 1080i combined with 25p or 50p recording???

Take another look at your camera. Then check
out your manual.
It's 1080i 24/25p. A progressive signal embedded in
an interlaced stream. This has been covered all
over the forum.
