Hello everyone. This festival sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun, so I'm in!
I've been going though some of the Drama and Horror Fest threads and it looks like the procedure is to first make posters and banners and stuff to start the buzz, so here are my temporary materials.
http://www.stormfactory.com/dvxuser/poster_drama-fest_01_400x600.jpg

I have no idea what the story will be at this point or what to call my project, thus the untitled title. All I know is that I will more than likely be writing the script and more than likely be directing. I want to shoot in and around Los Angeles. I'll be using the DVX100A and Letus35 Flip Enhanced (if it arrives in time). Other than that, the only thing I can say is that I'm excited to think something up and get this project moving. I'll be updating this post with new information as it becomes available.
Good luck to everyone else who enters! DVXUsers rock!
UPDATE: Monday, November 13, 2006
I am excited to announce that Justin R. Durban (DVXUser's Edgen) has come on board as composer. You can check out some of his great work at http://www.justindurban.com
UPDATE: Friday, December 8, 2006
I finally got a moment to think about my project and I now have an idea of what my film will be about. I still don't have a title, but I know something about the main characters and will start writing the script this weekend.
UPDATE: Thursday, January 25, 2007
Okay, after a bit of a break, I'm back in this. Breakdowns went out on Now Casting yesterday. Casting is going on right now. We are shooting in Los Angeles this weekend. The roles have been added above.
UPDATE: Monday, January 29, 2007
Shot this weekend. Had an amazing time working with great actors and fun people behind the scenes. Was hoping to finish the shoot, but the rain kind of put a stop to that.
UPDATE: Monday, January 29, 2007
Added film grabs from this weekend's shoot. Had a great time working with great actors and fun people behind the scenes. Was hoping to finish the shoot, but the rain killed that plan. Trying to what see what can be put together for Drama-Fest.

Welcome to the fest, partner. Poster looks nice. I couldn't view the pic on the left though, for some reason. May just be me.
Best of luck to you,

Nope, not just you. It was the wrong file name for the poster and the dead image box didn't show up in Firefox. Just deleted it in IE. Thanks Jason.

Very nice poster! Are those people you are hoping to use as actors or are those stills from another project?

Very nice poster! Are those people you are hoping to use as actors or are those stills from another project? They are shots put together from my photography portfolio. The girl is an actor turned director who I might be in it, but since I have no idea of the story yet, I'm not sure. He is an actor who could also be in it. Glad you liked it.

LOVE the poster. EXTREMELY simple in the titling, which just rocks in it's professional layout, and dig the pic of the boy/girl.
Nice banner as well ... looking forward to hearing what this will be about. :)

Hey Greg, do you have a story idea yet?Hi Tommy. Yup. The story finally came to me while driving home last night. I should start working on the script this weekend. We''ll see how it goes. The good thing is I can start putting out the casting notice because I think I know how many people will be in it.

Alright, so I'm updating this thread to say that there are no updates as of yet. I had never really tested it before, so I've been spending a good amount of time getting to know my camera, Letus35 Flip Enhanced, and indiFOCUS follow focus.
This is the setup I'll be using to shoot my project.

None of my test footage is going into this project so I'll post footage on the DVX footage board.

First Macgregor and now Gregory; this fest is gonna be fab !Wow, they still have it up? Sweet! Project Greenlight was a fun shoot. I wish I could have changed the Miramax script and blown up the building, but all-in-all it was a lot of fun.

It's going to be Mac-Gregory-ific! :cheesy:That's awesome! It made me laugh.
Any updates? The update is I may not be entering Drama-Fest.
Not sure, but the clock is ticking and it's not looking good. I have my camera and sound equiptment and locations for the most part, but I haven't had time to cast. So I'm at a point where I have a script that I don't hate, but no locked in actors to play the roles. There are a couple actors who I'd love to be in it who want to do it but it may not work out time wise since I can only shoot weekends.
I don't know what to do.

Greg,
If you need an extra hand, just let me know! I gave a valiant effort to submit a film and ran out of steam and got to page 3 of 6. Two people and a few china balls makes making movies difficult. :)

/jWhat do you need for yours? If you need help making steam, I've got a gas grill and a gallon of hot water. You're almost finished. Just three more pages to go. Go for it!
I may be able to use an extra hand. And those China balls wouldn't hurt either. I have a bunch of different sizes but I don't have the cord or bulbs yet. What do you use with yours?

I've got three China Balls. (1 HUGE. 2 little ones) with just the regular lights. I'm wanting to check into the '"Civan Array" (4 bulb light out of a 1 bulb fixture by double Y splitting) :)
I'd definitely go for finishing my script, but my actress lives in San Diego and had to work. I told her to just quit her job, but she wasn't too keen to that idea. (plus, it was total last minute anyway) Unless she can make it back up on monday. Then we'll be cutting it waaaay close.

Let me know if you need an actor. I can help you out if you're filming on a Saturday.Hey Tommy. No, I didn't miss your post. I thought I had covered it in the timeline. I don't have all of my actors yet. Only three will be on camera. The rest will be voiced and I might need a couple more in that category. Of the three that are on camera, only one is a guy, Eric. That one is open, but he is mid-20s and in the Army, thus shorter hair. Looking at your thumbnail, your hairs looks to be long. I have a couple people who have auditioned for me before and another who's work I like that I'm thinking about offering the role to, but I'm not sure yet. Depends on who I cast for Samantha.

I saw that you had put that in your scheduling post. I thought that was a reply to Justin, but reread it and noticed you had the casting part in there.
And my hair is quite a bit longer than that avatar photo. I'm almost at Jim Morrison length right now... :)
I don't have any recent headshots. I've got some things to take care of regarding a better working condition, meaning freelancing. As soon as I'm on my own, I plan on getting my headshots done. I had a part in TTN, so if you need references, you can talk with Mark or Ted. :)
But yeah, my hair is way too long to pull of an Army guy!

Hey Justiin! Thanks for coming out. It was great having you there. You were a big help. Having creative, positive, passionate people around makes shoots go much faster.
As for pulling this thing off, I do know. The rain really boned me the first day. We didn't get everything we needed and my actress won't be back until after the deadline. I could try putting something together with what I have but I'm not sure about what it'll do to the story. Hmmm.

keep me posted.

yeah, they are there now. Nice. Are you going to be able to cut something together after all? I wouldn't mind just 3 min of that actress...just sitting there. :)The actress is Laura Castle and she is amazing, sweet, sexy and professional. She is VERY watchable.
I could put together 3 minutes of just her, and with Justin's music behind it it could be really cool. But if I submit anything at this point, it would be something completely different from what the script is. The footage allows for that, but I'm not sure if I want to do that. Plus the clock is ticking.
