Hmmm... it seems to be offline now... Can anyone give a quick follow up?

It'll be back online. There was a complication introduced by a certain poster's personality, which I believe led to some thread editing necessary. I believe Chris is going to split the review apart from the follow-up thread and turn the review into its own article.

Now what have you gone and done Barry?

Actually after the "incident" happened, I did call said poster on his complete lack of credentials, and that got edited out (which I understand completely). Other than that, nothing... :)

I hope Chris doesn't get mad with me about this but i wanted really bad to read this review. I did wait sometime tho'.
So i used my google's power muhahahaha
I just read the cache from google's websearch listing.
Just search for "Jon Fordham's V1U Review Part One" (change it for Part Two and so on)
click the "cached" option under the first found link.
Hope this helps anyone. : )

Yes, Chris moved it from being an in-line post, to being standalone articles. I've updated the links to reflect that.

Yeah...it's still broken, but not the one you linked Mirezzi. The first-look article is up. The John Fordham's review is still off tho. I guess sony asked them to take it offline and do a proper review with the final camera. dunno.
Anyway, Mirezzi you can still use my trick to read the review. Cheers : )

I know the music video is the first evaluating worthy footage from the V1 so far but it really doesn't convince me when compared to all the XH-A1 footage we've been seeing lately. I really can't put my finger on what bothers me about it though. It looks...huh..different. It lacks texture. It lacks the organic looks of the HVX and the A1.

Yeah to say it looks like video is so 2005, but I also find it less pleasing, whatever the specs say...

I agree. While I've seem a few impressive V1 clips, I've also seen several 'progressive' shots with a strong interlaced look. I can't tell if the problem lies with the camera or the NLE's being used to capture the footage. The jury is still out on the V1U.

Take a peek at David Kender's review of the FX7. He believes performance is similar to the V1U. His review at http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-HDR-FX7-Camcorder-Review.htm was quite harsh on the FX7.
