I'm tired, very obtuse and getting ready to get on an airplane for some long flights. So, I need some help with the math. This summer when shooting under some florescent lights in PAL (i.e a 50hz) land, I had tremendous flickering despite using the stock Florescent scene file. I did not think of changing shutter speed but now realize that it probably was at the default of 1/48 in Video Cam mode or 180 degrees in Film Cam. Owing to the differences in electrical systems, what shutter speed or shutter angle would work best.

Thanks...

If you are shooting in 50hz country you need to set the shutter at 1/50th of a sec. The scene file does not affect the shutter. If you use it in film cam, the 180š will work only if you shoot 25 frames per second (If you shoot 24p it will be 1/48 and so with the different frame rates. I donīt know if the NTSC version has that possibility. I live in a PAL land as you say, and if I have to shoot in a NTSC country, the first thing I do is set my shutter to a 1/60th so i donīt have any flickering...

Gracias... after getting a night's sleep, I kind of figured a 1/50th shutter. Amazing how little sleep dulls the already-dull mind.
