After my experience with Horrorfest I am starting day one on this fest.
Woke up this morning with the entire story in my head and wrote it down.
Called my people and we're starting pre-production tonight. Casting is my biggest concern. Locations will be easy and a total blast. The holiday season is going to be the perfect time to do this as well.
For those of you who thought After Life was good, just wait until you see this one.
Working title,
"I struggle to breathe."
The story of one man trying to cope with the loss of his souldmate. Yes, it is an old concept, but aren't they all?

Sounds good man, good luck.
Speaking of Soulmates (i figure you meant Soulmates), I just rewatched What Dreams May Come and that is an amazing movie and if you haven't seen it, it might inspire you for this project (maybe it doesn't fit the story/location/etc, but maybe just the emotion does).

I saw "What Dreams May Come" when it came out. I read the book first. I thought the movie was ok. The book was far better. Always is.
As I said, the concept isn't new, but the telling of this story will be. I am very excited.

Thank you all. Stay tuned for BTS shots and production updates. Posters to come soon. Are we allowed to do trailers?

Nope. Sorry, no trailers or footage allowed of any kind. You can post stills on this site. No outside advertising either.
Looking forward to the poster and the BTS stuff.
Good luck, man

Mhm, i was actually going to do a thread on trailers. So the rules state [roughly]:
"No trailers to be created showing footage of your film"
So would it be possible if you made a small mini trailer out of footage, that didn't get edited into your film? Or, to make a trailer but to shoot it without the footage in the film itself...if anyone understands what im trying to say.

That gets a little hazy. I can't honestly answer that. The rules state though that stills are aloud. No footage. I think you're best bet is to stick to that. Check out the Drama Fest info thread-2nd post by Barry_S. :)

An update and more discussions....
The story is written, the shots are planned out, the location secured, equipment is here.
Actors to be auditioned over the next two weeks with shooting scheduled for Nov 17-20 and Dec 8-11.
I refuse to use computer generated shots and so everything you see will be the result of careful shooting and editing. The results should be really impressive if I am able to pull it off. It will also be a feather in the cap of my actors.
If I can just stop getting hurt at work and finish my website, everything will be great!

Are we going to get an Individual Film Thread like last time?

Hey William, all is sounding great. It's good to see that you're so organized this early in the game. You're shooting very early. Are you consciously spending an extra long time in post?

Sounds simular to what we're doing. I was so embarrassingly disorganized for Horrorfest (which is not like me, I swear!) that i feel the need to redeem myself! haha
Sounds like your project is going to be a fun one because of your early organization. Good luck!

Hey Future/Wild Imaginations ... I just realized you started a new profile ... may not be too late to see if Jarred can just alter the name of the other one so you don't lose all your previous posts?
Anyway, no big ... more importantly, looking forward to your entry!

I've cast my lead actor. He's really excited about the challenges of the role and the opportunity to work with me again...
Finally settled on a title....check it out here. (http://www.wildimaginationfilms.com/didyoumissme.html)
SO, we are hopefully going to get started next weekend on the actual shooting. I am nervous and filled with anticipation.

Just curious as to why you feel that way.

It's a personal choice. I want to turn away from effect driven productions and heavy reliance on my computer, although without it my project would be really difficult, and focus on the story and my ability to translate what I see in my mind into what the audience sees on the screen. I'm not very technically adept when it comes to the CG element and this is a handicap I choose to overcome by working harder to get the shot in the "real world" instead of at my keyboard.
I hated the way Star Wars went. I don't like the CG Yoda, I like the puppet. I liked the huge models they used to film the first film. I want to be able to touch the elements of the film. Otherwise it's just really high tech cartoons.

I am a little worried about the possibility of an unintentional violation of the external promotions rule...
I posted a link on my website with a blurb for the purpose of informing potential actresses what they were getting into, where to send headshots and such. Not a lot of detail. "it's a love story Blah Blah Blah...."
Does this count as external promotion, or is it an acceptable unavoidable when looking for talent?
