2-1-07 UPDATE: Please note, when viewing the film, that this was shot in 23.98/24P, however when the project was initially uploaded, it was done so incorrectly to an interlaced 29.97 timeline. Due to time restrictions & resources, it was decided to submit the film interlaced, however we will be releasing the slightly extended film in it's original progressive frame rate after the festival. Color correction will also be altered being able to do so natively within Mac/FCP at that time.

[I]SPECIAL THANKS
Rebecca Dunn, I'm incredibly blessed to have had our paths cross. I wish I could have started working with you sooner, but will make the most that I can going forward with putting you in challenging roles, always confident that you'll rise to the occasion & supersede what I could have hoped for. If this is what you want to do, you can go VERY far, I have no doubt. You know I believe in you, my friend.
Reid Phillips, my buddy for over 28 years now. It is awesome to watch you get into your roles, and nail them so well. Thank you for the commitment you bring to the table, and your desire to throw everything you have into your character. You were fantastic, and I couldn't have asked for more. If you pursue this, I'm convinced that you too will go far.
Shahna Sanders, you stood in SO well as the Concerned Neighbor. I smell Oscars! Seriously, Honey, thank you for being so supportive all the time, and for helping to clear the kids out during the weekend so we could take over the house. You're the best, and glad we were able to get you in the film! I love you.
Dan Ayers, you're the man. Thanks so much for bringing so much value to the production with your Steadicam expertise, eye for a shot, and creative input! I find myself extremely fortunate to have crossed paths with you, and hope you had as much fun out of working together as I did. I'm looking forward to doing TRINITY RIVER with you!
Ryan Walters, I was SUPER glad to still be able to work with you, and Dan was impressed with your attitude & work ethics ... you made an excellent 1st AC. Aside from just your technical & creative abilities, I value your friendship. Thank you for your honesty & support in all that we've worked on together to date, and will continue to do going forward.
Stefan Scherperel, there is no doubt in my mind that WHERE SILENCE FALLS would not be the film it's going to be without having had you on set. Thanks for your sacrifice of coming down for the weekend, even though you'd already been traveling for a week+ in Vegas for work. Your attention to detail, killer BTS photos, and ability to tactfully & quietly keep us pretty darn close to schedule, is much appreciated! You're also just a quality top notch guy, and fun to have around. I want to work with you again.
Steve Waters, you're the definition of a gentleman. Always extremely thoughtful & kind on set, while cranking out great lighting & ready to jump in at a moments notice for an adjustment. You and Dan worked really well together, and it'll show well in the film visually. I laughed when you thanked me after wrap for having you on set ... it's I who needs to thank you for everything that you brought to this production.
James Eubank, speaking of working well visually, you were always three steps ahead. Everyone was impressed with your attention to detail and continuity. You bring a great value to any set you're on, and I plan to always work with you. Also thanks for your humor ... love it.
Robin Steigmann, thanks for feeding us the great meals, and for constantly being around to make sure the craft services were kept fresh & available. You are what helped to keep us all in good moods! Full bellies make for happy folks ... thanks!
Alison Binford, your make up & hair looked INCREDIBLE in the HD footage. I don't believe I could have gotten a better MUA to work with, last minute or not. Thanks for stepping in at the last minute to help us out this weekend, and I will look forward to working with you some more for sure. You were also a blast to have around, as you're a riot to listen to ... funny, funny, funny!
Shawn Nelson, you also stepped in at the last minute to help us, and I can't thank you enough. The equipment you brought to the table allowed us to be able to have the Steadicam free & clear of wires, and the redundant audio track idea was brilliant, as we'll have three good mono track levels to choose from, should one be too quite, one too loud, etc. Thank you for your involvement on this short!
Jerry Turner, your tech expertise with the computers, as well as your willingness to jump in where ever needed really helped to make things run smoothly. I also believe you & Shawn worked well together, with you as the boom operator, and am looking forward to syncing the sound up with the picture here in the next few days! Thanks for jumping in on this production, with only a week's notice.
Justin Durban, you helped marry all of the picture, performance, and sound into one beautiful piece with your score, pushing the emotions to new heights that wouldn't be there otherwise without your involvement. You're incredibly gifted at what you do, and I'm ecstatic that you're involved with both this short & the feature that's in development!
Forrest Burger, last but certainly not least. You saved us, man! You were gracious enough to take my call, at your home, from a perfect stranger, and then even on top of that you sacrificed your Sunday by hanging with us in the editing room for over 10+ hours to get our film into a final locked edit. If it weren't for you, I'm not sure what I would have done, since I know bupkis about Mac/FCP! Thank you! You're also an extremely talented editor, with a great eye for continuity and flow. You're a perfectionist, like myself, so I REALLY appreciate the way you work! Looking forward to seeing if we can make the budget work with TRINITY RIVER to have you be a part of it.So to everyone involved with the making of WHERE SILENCE FALLS ... :dankk2:

Thanks folks. This will be a short that will cover a LOT of basis for me, in that I'll be working with most (if not all) of the same team that will be on the feature I'm developing & aiming to shoot March/April, called TRINITY RIVER, also a drama.
Rebecca's slated to be the lead in TR as well, so it's just more exposure for her, and will also be a great opportunity for us to test some of the camera styles/movements & lighting that we want.
Speaking of Rebecca, not only can she act really well & look great (starred in HorrorFest's "R.E.M.", but she's actually REALLY creative, and brings some good ideas & dialogue to the table for the script ... so this will be a fun venture to have her more involved in.
If you guys get a chance to check out Dan's reel (the DP), I think you'll like it!

LOL, yeah I figured there'd be some of you out there VERY pleased to see her in another film again. In fact, you get to see her at least TWICE in this fest, because she's also the lead in Ryan Walter's (235 Studios) SEMELE.
Thanks for the props on the banner, folks. I was actually questioning how cool it looked, because there are others that REALLY stand out to me (i.e. Ryan's SEMELE), but I'm glad you're all liking it.
Speaking of 235 Studios, it's amazing that I've rec'd several PM's today asking the same thing, so I'll just go ahead & address it here, even putting it into the front page's Q&A, if I have to. A few have wondered if 235 Studios and have I have gone separate ways. Not really; just branching out.
Ryan had initially tapped me to direct SEMELE, when he first came up with the idea. He's looking to build projects under his own banner/label, which I can't blame him, and so this was a project he wanted to produce. However, as he continued to rewrite the script, his vision for it continuously became more clear, to the point that he decided he'd like to direct it himself. Since we'd not gotten too far into the process with his film, it was a perfect time for that transition.
But, with the opportunity for some healthy competition, as well as all of the afore mentioned (Warm up the TRINITY RIVER crew, test camera/lighting ideas, etc.), I decided to enter the fest separately.
Are we still friends? Yes. Will we likely work together again in the future? Absolutely. This will simply be an excellent growing experience for both of us.

Thanks Brandon. :) I thought after PANDORA I wouldn't want to do it again (direct & act), but it was also my first time working with an actual crew in that film, so it was a LOT at the moment. I really dig gritty stuff for acting, and this will certainly do it, and I've had more experience working with a crew, defining vision, etc. since so I should have a less stressful time this go around ... and I'll also count on a good 1st AD to keep me in check as well, since I won't be able to see myself on camera at the same time, lol.

Thanks Herman! :)
Just finished the 1st draft of the script today, at about 9 pages. It's a rough, but a solid structure that Rebecca & I just need to trim back now, then see how it paces out.
Norm Sanders
11-05-2006, 11:00 PM
K, Rebecca & her family just left my house, and we did more of a revision, but we'll call it Draft 2 anyway. Read the parts outloud, trying to pace it out, etc., and it came out to approx 5 minutes, so we'll have room to spare with adding more dramatic moments/beats, etc.
We both feel extremely good about it, and believe this is one that will leave people with a 'wow' effect on how it'll make them feel after watching it.
Since we're not filming until 1st or 2nd weekend of January, we'll have plenty of time for pre-production & planning. Will be updating the site with BTS, etc. soon.
We're still not sure if we'll shoot this DVX or HVX yet, depending on resources.

Yeah, he's shot 'Nip-Tuck', even DP'd & Steadicam for the 'Monk' series, some feature film work, etc. He moved up here from LA two years ago for a better place to raise his kids, and is looking for more local stuff that he doesn't have to travel for.
The short film sounded fun for him. Great for us!
Larry Rutledge
11-06-2006, 01:38 PM
Well, I just finished reviewing Norm's script and I have to say I think it will be the worst film he's ever made...
just kidding  I really like the story, it covers a very interesting subject that potentially affects a lot of people. I'm really excited that it appears to have been written to fit within the festival time restraints. Though I understand the desire to make longer projects, I don't think cutting a short version of a longer film has worked well for anyone who has tried in past festivals.
The characters in this project are very believable in how they deal with the situation they are faced with, and the script does a great job of ramping up the "drama" quickly, yet still believably.
Honestly, not to downplay his previous projects one bit, but I think this could be Norm's best outing yet. Not only is it well constructed, but it deals with a topic that will potentially affect many of us at one time or another.
Good job, looking forward to seeing this project.
Peace,
Larry

Back when I was a young lawyer a friend gave me a book entitled "the superior person's guide to words" that was a tongue-in-cheek volume but it did have some amazingly cool words. I was hooked and since then I've particularly enjoyed trotting out big words to compensate for my dimunitive stature. One of my favorite things is to insult people with words they don't know. For instance, steatopygous .... means you have a big ass.

11-06-2006, 02:33 PM
Ha, FUN thread-jack. Don't mind it at all, especially because I just learned some big words. lol.
"When Silence Falls" was the runner up, but Rebecca & I decided "Where" had some more subtle under laying tones, and just felt/sounded better.
Brandon, isn't Darkness Falls a horror flick? I think I saw it, and if it's the one with Christian Slater, I thought it was aweful ... though the name has a ring to it.
Mark, I gave Larry access to the script because of the afore mentioned, which he stated, and also because he's not doing an official entry himself. I also knew Brandon wanted to see it, and COMPLETELY forgot that he was entering as well (no idea why I forgot that), so I kind of broke my rule of showing it to only those that aren't entering.
At least I'm fairly confident that he's far enough into his script/storyline that mine won't influence his at all. If you've got your completed as well, then I'd have no problem having you take a peak after I make some adjustments (just rec'd feedback from Jeff Hawley, writer of our SPARROW film as well as our feature we're working on, TRINITY RIVER) today. It'd be great to trade reads, if you're up for it.
Larry, thanks for the detailed kudos! Glad you liked it as well, Brandon. We're pretty excited about this one, and the emotions as well as social issues/ramifications we'll be able to explore with it!

That's very generous of you Norm. I would be honored to take a look. We're going to have ours nailed down this week and I will take you up on the offer once I can be sure we're through. I'll return the favor too.
I would mention that when Brandon was laying out his story to me this weekend he said, "oh, and then there's this scene where silence sort of falls ..."

Actually Larry's writing my script, so it'd only be he who would be affected, but we already had a solid treatment and everything, so no worries :)

Right, I am writing Brandon's script, but as he says we already had our story well in place and mostly written before I looked at Norm's.
Plus, the story's are so different I don't think there is any risk of conflict.

It's a SIX minute movie, Larry! Pull the lead out already. Just kidding. Thankfully I had some time this weekend to bang out the first draft, as our church had a Men's Retreat. So I had an hour+ drive on the way up to work on the laptop, as well as some breaks on Saturday to work on it ... then finished it on the drive back on Sunday.
Sunday night was Draft 2 over a sit down with Rebecca, and I'll make those other revisions today, which aren't enough changes to constitute calling it a THIRD Draft, so I'll just leave the title page at Draft 2 for now. :)

You're a good writer, Larry, trust me. I've read a LOT of stuff over the last couple of years ... some scripts that I just put down after the first 10-15 pages because they were just THAT bad. You've got a SOLID base from which to grow from, which is a great thing.
Yeah, Jeff is pretty awesome, though. I also love the fact that not only is he good, but he's also extremely collaborative, and open to changes from his original vision, though he'll fight for what he believes in if he feels it's necessary.

LOL. Didn't I send you the link to this thread in a PM?
Oh, I also e-mailed you & the others on crew a link to the script last night. Look forward to your thoughts!
What does anyone else think of this: The festival rules say no showing any actual footage of the film prior to the festival, but it says nothing of sharing any of the script. I'm considering showing an additional page every week or two until the submission deadline, which would put me at having the last page or so unseen ...
Thought it'd be a fun way for folks to check back to the thread every week or so to see where the next page lead in the story, and then to build up to the end, only to find it out by seeing the movie. Also might be interesting for those that had read the script up to that point to see how we laid it out on the screen for them compared to how they imagined it?
Hmmmm.

I.E.
Norm "Eric" Sanders - Director
Dan "Eric" Ayers - DP
Justin "Eric" Durban - Composer
etc.
Kind of like the fun credit you see for Halloween episodes of THE SIMPSONS, etc.
Actually Ted, I was somewhat forced to have the guy be Eric vs. the girl being Erica, because I didn't want Rebecca's resume to have the same character name twice in a row! Yeah, I know, always thinking of others. I'm a giver. It's what I do. LOL.
Mark, I'm very interested to read your guys' script when it's ready (that trade), as I'm curious to see where you'll be utilizing effects.

Exciting new for TRINITY RIVER, which should also be impacting this short. I just got off the phone with Michael Jones (IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1378875/)), who's highly respected in the area as an indie Producer/Line Producer. He's set his bar at only working with films that are budgeted at $500K+, but after reading the script for TR and an initial meeting that went well between us, he's decided he'd like to be involved. We meet again this Friday morning to finalize details, set/clarify mutual expectations, etc.
Needless to say, I'm stoked.
How this ties into "Where Silence Falls", is that I'm asking all key crew of TR to come & do this short as well, as an opportunity to work together in advance, etc. He's aware I'd like him to be 1st AD, and said he'll 'think about it'. Since that's what he said about TR as well until today, I've just gone ahead and updated the first post with him as 1st AD now, lol.

NEWS UPDATE: Ryan Walters (235 Studios) will be B Cam, working with Dan Ayers (the DP) for TRINITY RIVER. As such, since I'm using this short as a warm up opportunity for folks to work together in advance, Ryan will now be serving as 1st AC on WHERE SILENCE FALLS.
It'll be exciting to have him on the film, and it also only feels natural since we've worked the last three films together. :)
I'm moving Stefan to 1st AD, and will be talking further with him about that (PM you soon Stefan). Thankfully Stefan has been kind enough to be flexible where ever he can best be used, and he's got experience across the board as well!

Rebecca,
Let me apologize ahead of time, though, because TommyInLA and Kyle Stebbins tend to overshadow the subtle and layered film making discussions that we mature members of the team attempt to bring to the table. If you happen to come by and see crude scatological humor, that's Kyle's doing. If you see outrageous and offensive photoshopped graphics, that is Tom's fault.

The script from public view.
What, did you think we'd actually pull out of the fest!?! RebeccaD and I worked on a final polish of the script (very minor stuff, not even enough to call a new draft - dialogue tweaks, mostly), and she'd been off the boards for quite a while as she's busy moving. I had made the decision to show the script page at a time in advance as a teaser, but she feels it would be best for a few reasons not to.
So, since all of you guys out there think that she can do no wrong, and love her so much, I'll just place the blame on her. She's making me pull the script from public viewing.

Thanks Tommy, I'm really looking forward to DramaFest, perhaps more than any of the others, because it strips away a lot of what many of us have relied on with the past with cool FX, sound FX, etc.
To me, DramaFest will kind of take everything back to the basics to really focus more on story, character, etc. .... which if you look back at the films that have won the past fests, they had those down quite well, but I think more films as a whole will be focusing on that, which should hopefully make this an excellent fest.
Interestingly enough, R.E.M. had little to no focus on any of that stuff that really matters, and still did well enough with a good performance by Rebecca, sound design that was rec'd favorably along with score, and camera work.
Tom Marshall

No real updates yet. Rebecca's been slammed with her move, and with the holidays & such, it's been a little slow. The script, we believe, is absolutely solid, so there shouldn't be any changes there.
We will have a casting update soon, so I'll update that, hopefully in the next few days. We'll also have a pre-production meeting with the 1st AD, DP, etc. probably in the second or third week of December, as we're not shooting until the second weekend of January.

Yeah, Mt. Hood is a REAL pretty view to behold, for sure. If I'm not mistaken, they don't have a view of Hood, as it's on the other side of the hill from them, but they do have a view of the Portland City lights, Columbia River, Portland International Airport, and Mount St. Helens ... the volcano that blew its top 25+ years ago, and is now completely covered in snow.
Their house, however, looks like crap inside, lol (sorry, Rebecca). They've been having it remodeled before moving in, which I helped some over the weekend ... but I'm sure by this weekend it'll be looking awesome. Seriously a very nice place. We've cast our third & final character for the film with Reid Phillips, which those of you who have seen the full cut of SPARROW will remember him as the THUG in the opening Alley scene/fight sequence.
I hadn't wanted to mention this in advance, specifically if I didn't get the role as it'd be quite embarrassing, but I was planning to audition for Ryan Walters' film (SEMELE), and had already decided if I landed the role that I would automatically cast the other male that was in his film in mine also. I thought it would be interesting to have two films, made by two different filmmakers, feature the same exact cast in completely different roles/characters.
SHOULD BE FUN!!

Oh, and for SPARROW, Tommy, I'd suggest just borrowing Blaine's copy so you can see the full cut vs. any short version we may have had for the fest ... short version just doesn't do it justice. Anyway, borrowing Blaine's assuming you guys see each other. I mean, LA's not really that big, right? :)

Thanks, Ted, you too! Just stepped on the scale this AM, and about 4-5lbs heavier than yesterday, no kidding. Good eatin'!
Sending you the PM link now. Yeah, I can't stand YouTube quality either, so I rarely watch that stuff.
Tommy, I THINK it was shot with the andromeda system ... which is a modfication of the DVX, where these guys (for about $2,500+) will rework your DVX, adding some hardware to it, that will allow it to shoot FULLY uncompressed (4:4:4) raw footage ... you then must color correct, etc. in post ... I think the frame size is larger than 720, but smaller than 1080.
Tom Marshall
11-24-2006, 12:48 PM
Oh yeah, I've done some research on the Andromeda... I'd rather rent something that had a bigger CCD though... like the SVX900 (which is a GREAT camera btw). It's got a 2/3" CCD on it rather than the 1/3" on the DVX and HVX. Actually, I don't even own a camera. I'm a director/writer. I can't bring myself to think of technical issues in films. I only pay attention to the story when I watch a movie... is that a good thing or bad thing? I don't know. When you have a great DP, then you really don't have to worry about it, I suppose. Just do some very good story boards and be able to communicate what you're going for and you should be there. I think I'm rambling...
Norm Sanders
11-24-2006, 03:24 PM
No, you're not rambling ... I think you've got a GREAT point. Why get bogged down with tech stuff when your job is to ensure the STORY comes through? Keep that thinking!

Soon, very soon. Ryan's got a table reading scheduled for the week of the 13th (December), so I'll probably try to squeeze something in for WHERE SILENCE FALLS as well.
Then after that we'll certainly try to plan more time for both films to be rehearsed, etc. especially for Reid Phillips, as he's traveling about 90+ minutes one way just to make it up here, so the less we can both make him travel the better.
Thanks Ted. Yes, I'll be in attendence ... getting everything together for it now.

Okay, a WEE bit of forward movement with the film. :)
Rebecca & I will be getting together tomorrow for some read throughs, as well as for Ryan's film (SEMELE), which we're also both in. We have a table reading for his next Wednesday (as well as ours directly after), but want to be as ahead of the game as possible by that time. Should be interesting to start putting inflection/emotion into the words we wrote!
On another note, Stefan (scharky) will be coming down from Seattle this Saturday to meet & discuss the film indepth from vision, to rough ideas for scheduling, etc. As 1st AD, he'll be in charge of setting the schedule, and I'm also putting him in touch with Dan Ayers, the DP.

Hey norm, that memorial video was really touching. Felt like I knew him after watching it. The one thing that seemed out of place was the fast fowarding of the images. It took me out of the moment because it seemed so abrupt compared to the mood you set. I just watched Bagdad ER the other day and freaking war sucks ass. You don't hear about all the guys getting their asses blown off every damn day. :(
Norm Sanders
12-06-2006, 12:54 PM
LOL, Jack, that wasn't the intent, but funnier now that I go back & read it with that accent ... thanks for sticking that in my head. :)
Aram, you resounded what a couple others on the board said too about the fast movement, but the majority kind of dug it, so I stuck with it ... it wasn't so much about mood at that point, as to kind of symbolize a build up as life flew by ... then slammed to a halt on his daughter's picture & the title "Father" ... it had the desired effect on the service too. Thanks for the kudos though, much appreciated ... and yeah, war does suck. Sometimes it's necessary, sometimes not, all the time tragic.

Who did you get to do makeup for R.E.M.?
Norm Sanders
12-22-2006, 07:46 PM
No one ... she went to a Mac counter at Nordstrom & had her makeup done there ... then she continued to do her own touch ups throughout the night as needed. Can't recall where she had her hair done, but it was again all done off-set.
Since it was such a last minute entry for us, it wasn't much of a care/focus. WHERE SILENCE FALLS is a different matter altogether, and we'll need a good one for sure.

WHERE SILENCE FALLS has been in a bit of hiatus while we've been focused on SEMELE. Looking forward to that shoot, though I'm NOT looking forward to getting up that early, lol.
Last Friday I had the DP, Gaffer, and Ryan over at my house for location/tech scout to see what lights to use, ideas of camera angles, etc. Ryan also had a session with Dan, the DP, going over the HVX, which is Ryan's. To hear how much money Dan had into his Steadicam gear, follow focus with microwave transmitter, etc. was just staggering. To have him bring all of that gear & his expertise to this short is humbling to say the least.
After this weekend's shoot with SEMELE, we'll be (Rebecca & I) totally focused on preparing for the following weekend's shoot for this film. We'll have a final rehearsal/blocking LATE Thursday night, which I'm looking forward to being able to work with Reid on.
Was on the phone with Stefan (scharky) tonight, who'll be putting together the schedule over the next few days ... also figured out some nice work-arounds, should our rain towers not come through as we're planning.
Working on menus for the meals and craft services with the caterer, Robin, which I think everyone will enjoy (they loved what she did for SPARROW).

AWESOME!! Just after posting the above, I got a call from our sound guy, Creed Spencer ... he has to bail because he rec'd confirmation of a paying gig that he had been waiting to hear from when accepting this short ... can't blaim him & hold no hard feelings ... just in a scramble for an experienced boom/sound operator now.
I mean, what fun is filmmaking if you can't roll with the stress that comes along with all these last minute things, right?! :) Also still trying to secure a MUA/Hair stylist. Got an e-mail in to Keelie Duncan, whom I met on Ryan's SEMELE yesterday ... she did a FABULOUS job & was really easy to work with.

Hey Norm,
I'm a writer/director/dp so I'm not an "experienced boom/sound op" but I've watched other people boom for me for years now. Plus, I've spent the last several months and $3000 on putting together a nice audio kit for my movies. So, feel free to keep searching for that experienced guy but failing at that I could help you better than some random PA.
EDIT: I didn't just throw $3k at a package, I spent months on the audio board reading and posting, reading audio books, etc. So I know the concepts and how to use the gear.

Update:
We are looking forward to this weekend, even though there have been a few glitches. We are still trying to nail down a make-up artist, but still have some options in the fire. I'm looking forward to working with a lot of the same crew and the identical cast. The scripts are very diverse, so it should be a blast.

Hey Norm and crew, just catching up on your thread. Sounds like you've had some excitement with the pressure of last minute hurdles. I hope that you've got them all covered now.
So, you shoot this weekend and Ryan shot last weekend, is that correct?
Sounds like fun! I love this stuff!!!
BTW, I didn't quite catch what the "you-tube" video comments were about. Can you direct me to the post?
Thanks and best to you all!!!

Hey Ted, no worries on not staying on top of threads ... it's tough for everyone right now, as we're in development or production of our films. Not to mention your thread is tough to keep up with anyway, it's so dang popular! :)
Shawn, REALLY glad to have you on board ... thanks for being our sound guy on this, mixing for the best levels, etc.
We also secured, thanks to a referral from my producing partner on TRINITY RIVER, Michael Jones, Alison Binford as our MUA/Hairstylist. Alison is VERY respected in the area for her makeup expertise, and comes with over 25 years experience with makeup, FX, and hair!
We've got all our key crew in place, and have our first cast/crew call tomorrow at 8am on Saturday, scheduled to wrap by 6:30pm.
Rebecca's going to be DEAD tired (hopefully not too much so), as she then has to scoot out to meet up with her band, and she'll be performing at a gig from 9pm to Midnight tomorrow night ... then get to bed so she can be back on set for a 7:30am crew call / 8:00am cast call ... with Sunday finally wrapping at 5:30pm.
I'm putting Stefan up for the night on Saturday, since he's traveling down from Seattle for this (3+ hour drive, one way), so I'll be taking him to Happy Hour that night to Cactus Ya-Ya ... killer food & good drinks.
I'll also try to get some BTS shots, etc. up tomorrow night after the first night's shoot.
WHOO-HOO, here we go!

Thanks, Larry, Brandon & Mark ... I'll look forward to getting BTS stuff up on here finally!
Thanks to the flexibility of Jerry (fixitinpost)! He was going to be more of a casual BTS guy for us, and has stepped up to the much more involved Boom Operator. I'll just have my DVX100a on hand as a roving BTS camera ... quick group meeting to show everyone they just have to push the red button & WHAMO, instant BTS footage.
Hopefully from the two days I have no more than two hours of BTS footage to cut a cool video from.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Should be good fun. It will be very interesting to see all of the same cast from Semele in totally different roles.

Stefan, tell your wife a HUGE thank you for me ... I feel bad that she's not seen you for about a week, then you're heading right back out for the weekend. You'll have to tell her that you didn't have any fun without her, of course. :)
Yep, Jerry, it'll be cool to see everyone in different characters ... as well as a few of the same crew from SEMELE mixed in with some new ones ... should be a fun shoot for all. I'm super stoked. Just trying to get the sides all lines up for tomorrow & Sunday ... nothing like waiting until the last minute!

Okay everyone, we wrapped our first day of shooting & had a ton of fun. Thought it would be fun to have Rebecca run the slate for a couple of takes & have her wave to all of you ... thought you'd like to see ... of course, as always, she's beautiful.

I know Stefan took a bunch, and couple of other people did too... I imagine they'll be coming sooner or later. Just wait till you see the steadicam setup. Remote follow focus, remote video monitoring, the whole nine yards.
