Hi everyone,
How would I broadcast a wedding video live online? A client's relative is sick, and wants to be able to watch the video live from a laptop. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
-Kris
First, you need high speed access in the building you're shooting in. You need to set up an account with a web service that will allow you to do this. You need to run your camera through some software that will stream it. I've set it up before, and vowed to never get involved with that again, unless the client REALLY has the money to do it. It ain't cheap to do professionally.
On the other hand, a MacBook with a built in iSight camera, and an iSight account, however you do that, would work really easy and cheap, providing you have a good enough high speed Internet access connection in the building.

You could actually use ichat with a dv camera connected via firewire. Or even conceivably using a DV video mixer connected to your macbook's firewire input. It wont be professional quality, but it is a way for someone to view via a laptop off site.

ichat is surprisingly good quality... I used to stream my cable box using ichat using an Canopus analog to firewire converter box, looked pretty damn good... Are you going to have an additional still mounted camera just for the live feed? or are you planning on roaming around while broadcasting live (possibly wireless) to the laptop to stream to the relative?

...and if you are using a PC. You can use any Video input device on your computer as a source and stream it live to up to 10 viewers (depding on the connection) with the Free Windows Media Encoder program. You can ever switch between cameras live in the software if you want.
WME Rocks.
