Since i have gotten the HVX200 i havent had any problems importing until now. I use P2 GENIE and never had a problem. When i backed up i could see the little icons importing so i thought everything was cool. I import everything into my laptop. Well out of importing 5 cards worth of footage one displayed a error. I just dont understand what the problem is, since the last text file is in the folder. When trying to import into final cut it tells me no p2 files found.
Its weird because i shot a lot of footage. But it was just 1 card import that went wrong.
Has anyone had this problem?
Are you importing into FCP from the files copied to the hard drive? Only a P2 device shows up automatically in FCP. Files on a hard drive have to be pointed to manually. Be sure you're up to 5.1.2 of FCP, as there was a P2 bug in earlier versions of 5.0 and 5.1 that reported currupte P2 data when it wasn't.
Since 5.2.1, I've had no use for P2 Genie, as much as I loved it and thought it was a top notch piece of programming. P2 Log just gave me headaches and was way, way overpriced. Now the new FCP 5.1.2 P2 Import window does everything the normal Log and Capture window does for tape. I'm not having any problems.
My worflow is slightly different, as I import all my footage directly from the P2 cards inside the camera or from my FS-100 directly into FCP 5.2.1. I back up the QuickTime DVCPRO-HD files it makes. I don't back up my original MXF files, as there's nothing in them I need. So I just back up my QT files since all the metadata is there and I won't have to re-ingest if they need to be restored.
