I am trying to see if I can get some possible answers to a problem a friend of mine is having with his system as I have ran out of ideas for him to try.

He is trying to export his project from FCP to Compressor. Compressor will not launch. He then tried to launvch Compresor directly and it crashes. He has since uninstalled FCP and Compressor from his computer and reinstalled it. I am not sure what version of FCP he is using though. After he reinstalled it, Compressor is still not working. He trashed the Cache files, and preferences and still nothing.

So I am out of ideas for him to try. Any more suggestions? He is using a Powerbook G4 laptop, again not sure what version of FCP he is running or how much RAM is in there. He did say he recently put 2 gigs of RAM in there.

there's some mismatched version issues that can occur, dig through the tech support stuff. Qmaster, Shake, Compressor, FCP, etc. Make sure his stuff is in sync, appropriately matched

Unfortunately it sounds like he needs to do a complete reinstall. I had the same problem at a company I worked for it just wouldn't open without crashing. The one thing I found out about compressor is that it doesn't like when you setup a custom default compression in the preferences. you can set a default location but DON'T set a default compression. Just select all and right click then choose your compression. Hope this helps someone.
