View Full Version : Rock Bottom

There’s a knock at the door, and at this hour of night, it can’t be a good thing. Cautious, Erica checks the peephole only to find her ex-husband on her porch, beaten and bloody and looking the worse for wear. Their long history together opens the door for Ricky and gives him a place to rest for the night and steel himself for what lies ahead.
Beaten by his own brother over his last five dollars and a rock, Ricky has hit bottom. Its do or die time and he goes to the only place he knows is a safe haven, so far removed from his current lifestyle: the family he used to have. Ricky is an addict, facing his demons, and coming to terms with what he must do. When you hit rock bottom, there’s always a fork in the road.

I was giving Terri some feedback on her script, but I don't think I helped because I just noticed I turned her first two pages into 5 pages  Hope I do better than that on the script for Brandon's project.

Blaine--thanks for the welcome and encouragement. Now, I think there are two people, not counting myself, who will watch me entry. But one of those will only be looking to see if one of my actors has some really bright toes. :)

The Pookmeister helped out with the poster. :D
I'm still re-writing the script, contacting potential actors and other "persons of interest" in the hopes that I wont be doing all this by myself.
So, I wasnt in on all the pimping for Horror-fest....how much can you reveal in these threads, anyway, and not get DQ'd?

Thanks guys! I think I have a "pretty close to final" draft of the script done and am working on casting. Met with a CD lastnight who I hope will help in getting the right actors for this thing. She works on just about every indie project in town and stays well connected. I've even worked with her before on other projects, but she stays so busy these days...
Looking for two more locations
and a composer
and a DP! haha!! (no, seriously)
Right now, it looks like the credits will be short: ME
(gives me more screen time for story!)

Congrats on the "pretty close to final" script.
I must have missed when you added the synopsis. Interesting. Definitely peaks my interest a bit. Makes the poster all the more interesting as well.
Keep it up,

Yeah, it was something I struggled with for a long time. I mean, I needed a girl's name, for sure. But it had to be a special name, a UNIQUE name...a name no one would use.
How do you think I did?

Okay, second meeting with the casting director tomorrow.
I've started storyboarding the first sequences, and that is turning out to be tougher than I thought. I dont want to do stickmen.
I've got all but one of my locations locked (praying that situation doesnt change). Looking for backups for a couple of them. I'm going to try to get a few stills of some of the locations this weekend and post them up.
Starting to gather props which is going to be fun...some of the things are outside of the world I live in. Will be interesting obtaining a couple of them. haha!!!
Store clerk: "Thank you for calling Wal-Mart. How may I help you?"
Me: "Can you tell me if you carry crack pipes?"

Just check eBay, they have everything :D
Glad to hear things are progressing well...I'm really looking forward to this one. If you're still looking for a composer I would recommend Leo Gardini (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=76756).

Thanks for the tip...I've had a couple of nibbles, but have found nothing concrete for composer/music as yet. I have something specific-ish (oxymoron?) in mind as far as style....now I'm just looking for the musical talent to do it. *sigh*
Larry R

I think you would be very pleased with what Leo produced for you. He is a fantastic composer. He captured the exact sound for my HeroFest entry that I was wanting and I never even told him what I was looking for. Just let him do whatever he felt best and he felt the music that fit the movie.

You might be able to make a crack pipe out of clear plastic piping and/or pieces from a chemistry set (like a Volumetric or Boiling Flask with a thin test tube melted/glued to it).
