PAL FCP Importing Help Please!!!

Am I being completely thick here? I've just shot some small tests prior to my first shoot with the HVX200 this coming Friday and thought I'd load them into FCP, so that I'm fully confident with the work flow.

My clips are recorded to the P2 card, I've connected the camera to the Mac via firewire. The camera is switched to VCR mode and I have the current version of FCP (5.1.2)

I set up a new project file for DVCProHD 50i and use the import P2 option. The log windows open and I find.........nothing! Nada, zip, squat.

I know the clips are there I can see them in thumbnails on the camera, so why isn't FCP seeing them?

Am I missing something blindingly obvious here? Please help, I need this to be up and running before friday.

When the HVX200 is in VCR mode hold down the big round button at the back as long till the camera will switch to IEEE1394 mode ...

Better to copy first the p2 stuff to your mac and then import from FCP.
