Drama-Fest 2006 - 2007
Well in every other DVX-Fest theres been a thread like this. So I thought I'd re-create the magic. Who's entering the Drama-Fest? Not only is this my first ever DVX fest, its the first ever time i actually created a proper film of some sort.
I'll probably be updating this post about 3 times a day. Since I cant get out due to my leg lately. So most probably as soon as you post I'll update the thread. Also, because I have no life I decorated It with colours.
Thanks

If your name is not on the list. Then feel free to reply with your name, or team name. Also if you have a link to your thread feel free to post that also. So this thread itself, would become a "Mini Index" where people could navigate easily to the film entry they want to get to.
If I created an error on the both. Let me know, I can be a bit of a idiot some times so. Sorry If I have. And of course, Good luck to everyone whos entering!
Cheers

How about I "want" to be in. I was thinking this morning how tricky getting a crew and reliable actors will be, considering some of us will be shooting thru Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
That's a tough schedule to work around for some.

I will put my shooting days before xmas, early December the latest. With the script I have at my hands right now...I guess...2 days are all it takes, so probably 1st or 2nd weekend of December.

Its always to loud and cramped. Theres something like 210 passengers on a double or triple carriage train. But yeah. I end up going to sleep about 1am, actually fall asleep about 2ish. Then waking up at something like 6am for the train again etc.
5 Days a week. 12 Months a year. Or something like that...
Anyhow, I'm going to act really special and say "Back on Topic"

when i was in london in june, for 3 days we would go from earl's court to euston, get the train to northampton and from there get the silverstonef1 bus to the circuit....we would start from earl's court at about 7 to be at the circuit by 10-11....and that means we'd get up at about 6.15-6.30 while we went to bed at 3-4 each night....and that is called VACATION ....lol....

What?
Just as a rough "rule of thumb", figure that if you take 60% of everyone who "signs up" that's roughly the amount of movies you end up with. It seemed to work on both HeroFest and HorrorFest. There will be some that don't make it official until they are ready to submit and there will be things that come up and cause those that sign up, to fall out. So...60% seems to work well...so far...

Definitely keep brainstorming. Drama isn't an easy genre to write, let alone come up with an idea for...

Hey Darkline! Good news! I believe that I already congratulated your entry though it seems that may have been premature!
I am looking forward to seeing more of your work!

I have an idea, but no concrete title yet. I learnt my lesson from the last fest where i had to abandon my thread due to changing my title about 2 days before the deadline... DOH

whats the color-solo-joint thing?
Ben Sliker
11-28-2006, 09:23 AM
it's pretty self explanatory:
solo - one dvxuser involved in the project.
joint - multiple dvxusers involved in the project.
Ki-ki did up a pretty crazy list this time around.

It doesn't look like this list has been updated lately.
There are a number of new entries and some dropping out.
What's the latest? I'm going to be sure that I have enough disk space to view all of the entries.

It's funny I was actually thinking about this list. I thought it would be a good idea to have the title of their projects next to their name. So ours would be
at the park by jeremytuttle + jontuttle
Or something of the sort, I think it would help with voting later.

Count me out
I just got done putting together a project I did for a school play production. 38 hours of footage edited down to 2 1/2 hours of glory...and it took about a month longer than I expected.
I dont want to pull another 'gorsehill farm' and enter a last minute thrown together 39th placer...so I'm going to go ahead and sit this one out.
Best of luck with all your projects....I can't wait to see them.

Jeremy,
I agree. The movie titles along with the names would be nice. Maybe Ki-Ki's leg is better and he's not keeping this updated.

I'll tell you what. Whenever the filenaming structure for the uploads is announced, I'll create a thread with everyone's "filename" of their short, and have it link to each persons thread.
Will that work?
Jason
I have decided to withdraw from Dramafest for two reasons. Firstly, the material I have feels dishonest. As Hollywood more and more produces work which is aimed at box office draw and profitability, my work seems to me to be aimed at scoring high or winning a contest. I don’t accept it from Hollywood and cannot allow it in my work. For me, it must come from my heart for a reason and that reason must be pure. This piece feels like it should have a number three painted on it then it should go round and round on a speedway. I may pot it in the DVX clips forum at some point but doubt it based on reason number two.
Secondly, I feel estranged from the community of late. Be it self induced, misguided belief, or correct assessment of perceived evidence, I do not feel the warmth I once felt on the forum. To me it has become a place where one must pay far too much attention to how they FIT into the framework and designing a winning fit has never been my strength.
I sincerely hope this makes sense to some. Peace.
Mino

That would be awesome Jason if you get the time. I suppose it's not super necessary but would be cool.
Mino, I'm new to this place so I'm not familiar with your work, but hopefully I'll get a chance to see it at some point. Any project to me is a good project because you learn something which makes the next project that much better.

Unfortunetly you will have to remove me from the list. I have yet to secure a DVX, and our film has been adapted into a longer film, potentially near thirty minutes run time. Sadly we will not be able to enter this one.
