I recently finished shooting a short doc with the HVX200 in 720/24pn. I also had another operator shooting reverses and cutaways with a DVX100A in 24p mode (with no letterboxing). Could the DVX footage be letterboxxed and up-converted to be able to cut with the HVX 16x9?? If the HD/SD on the same timeline does not work out, I am prepared to side-box the HVX 16x9 and down convert to SD/4x3 to cut better. Any tips would be welcome.:)

I know that this might sound stupid, but check the Edius 4.03 Trial on canopus.com if you are looking for a good method to edit your material in one timeline and upscale your dv footage...its worth it to try, 30 days of full trial, that saves you a lot of headache probably.

In general its a question of the result you need: if this is something you dont need in HD, id go down on 16:9 SD and scale the dvx footage to 16:9 (not just letterboxing, for the right aspect ratio).

If there is any chance you wanna use this in HD (and this is the main footage you got), upscale the dvx footage to hd and do it in HD, why loosing what you got..!

Good luck!
