This camera rocks. I just finished my second shoot day with it and I'm in love...

But, I've got a few basic P2/ Mac questions that I hope someone can answer.

1. How do I change the name of the P2 card so that it says something other than "No Name" on the file ? I'd like to designate each card with a number or something.

2. Is it possible to change the folders name from " No Name" without messing up the data in the folder ? I thought I read that you couldn't do this without screwing things up.

3. How do I change the permissions on the cards so that I can trash them from my laptop after transfer ? On the second day of the shoot, I went to trash the already downloaded cards, when to my chagrin I realized thet were locked... I went in manually and unlocked each file and then emptied the trash. Not fun.

Thanks for any help.

Try using P2 Genie and the upload of the P2 card can be assisgned a Reel number which in turn appends the name of the folder you have designated.

Very easy on the PC, just rename the volume using Explorer. Surely the Mac can do this as well?

Be aware that formatting the card in the camera or the P2 Store will erase the name you gave it. Formatting it in the P2 Viewer can preserve the name, but once again that's a PC program. Perhaps Mac P2 Genie overcomes both restrictions?

You can definitely change the name of the folder that holds the "contents" folder. What you cannot do is change the name of the contents folder. Also, don't change the name to something that has non-alphanumeric characters in it (i.e., don't make a folder called "REEL #1"; FCP will apparently choke on that. Instead you'd have to name it "REEL 1".)
