As the H1 has more, I would expect the same from the XH's. Exactly how much, I don't know.

On the andromeda website it says the DVX100 has about 7 stops (around 9.5 with the andromeda instaled). It would be nice to find out how many stops does the XL-H1 has...the G1/A1 will probably have the same.

How do you measure stops anyway?

You gather a crew of film-making aficionados and get ready to throw the camera on the floor. The time it takes for them to say "stop" is how many stops the camera has.
You can also count how many of them said "stop". :)

Lol, but what if those numbers don't add up? Let's say it takes 2 seconds for a crew of 35 people to yell "stop" before you throw 1 camera on the floor? Is that what they call 2.35:1? :D

I'd imagine that since the DVX's pixels are larger, it would have better sensitivity. I know it has more latitude than the HVX, surprising though that may be.

It's true, Bary Green's said so a number of times. I'm 99% positive he's said that the HVX has a stop less lattitude than the DVX, I just read the thread last night. Course I might be getting my vocabulary wrong.

I always thought the HVX was the camera that had more latitude of the entire bunch (jvc, canon, sony, panasonic it self).

No, wrong vocabulary. The HVX has a stop *more* latitude than the DVX.
The HVX is a stop less sensitive than the DVX (and in interlaced mode, it's two stops less sensitive). But it always exhibits about 1 stop more latitude.

So what are the latitude measurements on these cameras?
DVX ~ 7 stops?
HVX ~ 8 stops?
H1/G1/A1 ~ ______
Barry if you know this (of course you do), please enlighten.
This seems to be an extremely important question, I feel like latitude is what really makes film so amazing. IF the new canons have more latitude than the HVX...WOW, what amazing units.

In the texas HD shootout I think (I THINK) it said the HVX and the H1 are equal in latitude.
btw, film is like 12, right?

I've heard it said that the HVX200 and HD100 have slighly higher lattitudes than the XLH1 though they are all about the same.
