Hey ya,
I'm trying to cmpress my films so i can post them on my website, and have tried like every optionof compression and they all end up being huge files! I saw many of the herofest entries, and my film is about the same length as those, except they looked so much better and the file size was way smaller than my files are! so tell me, how do i create great looking files for the web and still keep the size down? i have sorrenson and quicktime pro, and am using avid to export my file.
Oh wise dvxusers, guide me in the ways of exporting for the web!

What I do is render to .wmv and NOT .mov.
Cut the frame rate back to 15.
Sete size to 320X240 (animation)
Quality at 79%.
Pixel aspect ratio should be 1000.
Render at high until done.
My recipe.
Let me know how that works.

if you have windows movie maker which most PC's come with. you can save your movie and import it in there and go to file, save movie file as and you can pick exactly how many mb's you want your video to be and it compresses for you.

For the web I would render nothing but Flash Video, that way your user doesn't have to download or open anyhting else except click a link and your video starts playing in the browser.

Only include a download if you want iPod Video or a fullscreen version that can be played back at any time.

thats what i ended up doing, flash. it was so much smaller than anything I've rendered in quicktime or anything else.
flash works great, thanks!
