I'm a newbie to the workflow editing HD in FCP. I shot a bit of footage in 1080i 25p. I went to edit, and noticed in my version of FCP 4.5, I don't have a 1080i 25p option. I am in New Zealand which is PAL. The only 1080 option I have in FCP is 1080i 60.
Do I need additional software to convert?
Help!
You'll have to upgrade. 4.5 doesn't have the DVCPRO-HD codecs. Upgrade to 5.1.

Thank you! Will upgrade to 5.1
Once you upgrade, run your Software Update, it'll bring you up to 5.1.2. You'll love it!

Ben,
How progressive is 1080i25p actually?
Does it record interlace and then de-interlace in the recording stage?
Ami
I just emailed Barry, I'll find out. When you ingest the footage, it will be progressive, reguardless of what originally came off the cameras CCDs.
The HVX200 records everything progressively right off the bat. The 1080 data stream is interlaced, so that's why the "i" is there, but what you shoot, what you edit, is true progressive.
