You guys know of any programs that will do realtime chroma keying, like for example, live weather men, like effect. a freind wants to make an art ptoject that needs a realitime, Chroma key, where someone will stand in front of a green screen, and in realitime a projection of that feed with a background inserted will be on another wall.
anythoughts?

Use a hardware Chromakeyer. Software is for post-production.
Many old cheap video mixers have basic chroma keying.
Look for following modles on FleaBay for abasic solution...
Panasonic: MX-70, MX-50, MX-20, AVE-55
Videonics/Focus: MxPro, MxProDV, etc.. Mx-1, Mx-4
Datavideo: SE.. umm 800 at least I think.
There are a bunch of others with some chroma key funtions too. Ediroll at least I think has something too. Just run an e-bay search for "video mixer"
The cheap ones suck for mutlicamera production with Chroma key, but left running in key-mode they can't be beat for the price.
Mx-20:

You *could* use a "studio in a box" solution that's computer based like a Newtek Video Toaster (now just [VT]) etc.. but those are expensive and over kill, not to mention they crash)
There are also many other dedicated Chroma keyers out there.
The BEST (IMO) for lowend stuff is the UltimatteDV (http://www.ultimatte.com/). Ultimatte is recognized as the best in video keying, and this neat little box - costing about $3k - is the cats meow for low cost top of the range keying. If you *must* use software, try looking at some VJ software, Resolume (http://www.resolume.com/) at least had a semi-decent real-time keyer running allready in 2000. I haven't used it since.
