FCP newbe asking for help.

I've got a shoot tomorrow that I'm going to shoot in DVCPRO 50. It will be intercut with footage shot in regular old mini DV into the same sequence. Does this work- not a problem?

In testing my new HVX, I did this and brought the footage (DVCPRO 50) into a DV sequence. The only problem is that the clips had to render on the timeline. Did I have a setting wrong ?

Last question: does FCP 4 have DVCPRO 50 codecs in it? My editor is still using FCP 4, so I just want to make sure that FCP 4 can work with DVCPRO 50 footage. The clips will have been wrapped with a QT wrapper when he gets them.

Btw, my shoot is tomorrow morning, so any helpful posts would be greatly appreciated today.

Yes, we just did this....
Use a DVCPRO 50 sequence and let the DV
footage render...
Everything including your graphics will be
much cleaner... we used lots of reds in the graphics
and they do not bleed like DV would.

My DV stuff plays in realtime in DV50 sequences.

I go to media manager and convert the dv files to dv50. I edit everything in the dv50 timeline. I think it depends on what the majority of your footage is. If its dv50, convert the dv files to dv50, if its dv, convert the dv 50 files to dv- or color correct and manipulate them first in dv50, then convert to dv.

You may run into problem here. Is it FCP4 or FCP4.5? Also I think it will depend on what QT version your editor is using and what version you use to wrap the MXF files. From what I understand there are some compatibilty issues when you use newer versions of FCP and QT to create files and then try and open them with older versions.
TEST TEST TEST.
