Having trouble burning a DVD reference. . .

First, thanks to everyone for giving some good feedback on the 16:9 issue I wrote about yesterday; it's all fixed. Now, I've been trying to burn my trailer onto a DVD so that I can see (on my television screen) how the film is going to look, kind of like a reference movie. How do I do this? I've tried three times so far and my DVD player won't recognize the disc and therefore won't play it. I've followed the Help advice but to no avail. I've read "Creating Final Output" chapter in this Visual Quickpro Guide, but that was worthless (doesn't mention one thing about burning DVDs. Is this a Settings issue? If so, what settings should everything be on? If not, what else could it be? Any help, again, would be extremely beneficial.
