double check your audio monitoring flow - any reason there might be a delay being introduced somewhere? Do the waveforms & VU meters in FCP verify this behindness?

sorry for the delay I am in location right now and it is hard to get in line. My connection is fine the problem seems to be in the final cut conversion rather than on the way i hear de audio. This has to be a bug in final cut 5.1.2 anyone knows something about this !
My problem as i said before is in the p2 logging window i make my quicktime transfer from a p2 card to get my native 1080 50 i quictime and i get one frame in advanced and i lose the sync in the quictime files tried 3 different computer and 2 different cameras i still get the same problem.

No, I'm talking about what Mac you're using, how fast is the processor, and what version of FCP. How much ram have you got?

Hi i have two diferent computers one is a
g5 2,7 dual with final cut 5.1.2 it has 8 gigs of ram 4 external 1 terra lacie drive
also on set a g4 PowerBook G4 17"
PowerBook5,3
CPU: PowerPC G4 (1.1)
CPU: 1
CPU: velocity 1.33 GHz
512 KB
Memoriy: 1 GB
Both computers and two diferent hvx 200 have given me the same problem the audio is one frame in advanced to the video after i make an import in the p2 browser that final cut 5.1.2 has included.
How full is your internal HDD? Are you using the internal or the external? Are you using Firewire 800 for the external? What are you using for preview? Have you tried output to tape? Did you try connecting the camera to a Plasma with some edited material to a P2 card? After this, if you still have a problem, I really think you should call Apple. Anyone else experiencing this?
I have the same g5 as you, by the way, and I'm working in FCP 5.04 without any problems whatsoever. I have a g4 powerbook at 1.67 ghzs, and it also lets me edit without the problem. I, however, have a dedicated HDD for the g5 (internal) and 2 terabytes of external firewire 800 lacie drives. Maybe it really is an HDD issue...

Thank for the help, the problem is a real weird one, i´ve tried everthing you have asked me except editing something and sending it back to the p2 card for watching in a plasma. I ll have to look at that. I dont think its a ram or a computer problem it just doesn´t look like it. Im pretty sure it´s not a slow firewire issue and that´s basically because the editor of the movie is receiving the p2 back up card and he is having the same exact problem and we have diferent hdd´s. Right now we are on a tight scheduale and basically he has decided to lync all the clips himself. My real concern is that my problem has happened in diferent computers with diferent camaras and two diferent final cuts but both are 5.1.2 Maybe im not seeing something obvius but i tell you the camara sound always apears one frame in advanced before the slate snaps. Anyways my configuration is exactly like yours. The editor and me work with externals lacie drives with firewire 800. Thank you all and i´d just like to know if somebody else with finalcut 5.1.2 has tried this. I´ve read other posts and some people seem to have had other problems regarding 720 and framerates.
