I have never really messed with this, but now i've taking a $2g' editing job and they need it in a dvd format normal, and compressed for the internet and i' have no idea where to begin. I've messed around with dvd-lab pro but have no idea about converting things to mpeg etc. Isnt there a much easier way to do it? I have like 2 weeks to do it and don't want to waste my time reading when i should be editing.

My bid is $1400...Kyle you don't have time for such nonsense. You have to work on your Training DVD.
DVD format is MPEG-2. Most editors offer an export feature that includes MPEG-2. A program I've been using lately is Sorenson Squeeze, it has many output options including MPEG-2, and all the different flavors for web distribution. For web I would recommend an h.264 mov.

Easy, use compressor - pick a setting: your get your mpeg2 with audio.
go into dvd studio pro
import assets : your encoded files
click on track tabs, put the files there
go to your menu tab, and then drag a button onto the menu canvas
set the button to the mpeg track in the button prop. window.
there you go.
if you just want a plain screen, make a black image in photoshop, and make sure your button is black as well. set the target and your done. build and burn

output the file to MPEG2 and then just burn it to a DVD as a Movie DVD, like in Nero, select the DVD-Video and drop the raw MPEG2 into the burn window. It will play as soon as you put it in the DVD player.

oh , i did forget to mention that i am also the producer. My job is to deliver them a product on time, i don't necessarily need to be the most technical, but i do need to know how to make it happen. And thats what I did, found someone who likes super techy stuff like making dvds to do it for me, until i have time to learn it.
