So I exported my footage with FCP using compressor. I then compressed it and went on dvd studio pro. I burned it but when attempting to view it on a dvd player it has like a menu that says JPG. WMV. something like that.

Anyone know what happend?

What do you mean that you export from FCP using Compressor? Why didn't you export it as a self contained QuickTime with current settings?

because i was told thats what i am supposed to do.

Edit my footage and then use compressor. Import it to dvd studio pro. and then the problems begin.

what is your source?
What is your desired ultimate destination format?

We'll go from there.

My final destination is dvd.

Here is my workflow. I shot the footage on the hvx200 on 720p 24p.

My sequence setting HD 1280X2080

PIXEL Aspect ratio 960X720

Quicktime compressor dvcpro hd 720p 60

i then export using compressor

i set to dvd best quality 16/9 90 minutes.

set destination to desktop.

I then go to DVD studio pro and burn it. Only the two times i did it nothing shows up on the dvd but a menu with an option for jpeg and mpg. And the other time black bars with nothing but white on it. Somethings up with it

any help will be appreciated

Sounds like your sequence settings are a little wonky for HVX footage
Got to Audio/Video settings and Select DVCPROHD 720 24p -
Make a new sequence and copy and paste your sequence into the new sequence.

From here you can export via compressor if you'd like. Make sure you're using the proper settings - the white screen issue sounds like a codec problem.

As far as the menu issue goes it sounds like a DVD Studio Pro problem. Do you have your first play and target tracks set? Is there supposed to be a menu on the disc?

NO MENUS

I believe i set as target tracks first. but i am going to recheck.

i think its a dvd studio pro setting problem. Because after i run it through compressor i then drag that file into toast and burn it fine. except the quality isnt top notch. If possible Nathan can you provide me with settings for Compressor and Dvd studio pro. i would greatly appreciated it. Only if you have the time. I dont want to over use my favors.

thanks
nathan.

Make sure you imported your mpeg/aif/ac3 files and assembled them on their own track.
Also check that your Disc "first play" has been set to that track -
also you may want to set the end jump of that track to be itself so that it loops rather than falling off to darkness forever.

If this is less than an hour:

1. Export your sequence: QuickTime (the top choice), current settings audio and video, no recompression, self contained.

2. Open Compressor, and elect the 90 minute fast encode, 16:9 and also export the audio to Dolby 2.

3. Take those two files, m2v and ac3, and import them into DVD SP. Nathan says to import the aiff files. If you have ac3/Dolby2, then DO NOT IMPORT THE AIFF FILES. THEY ADD TO THE OVERHEAD, and combined video and audio should not exceed 10.08 megabits per second.

4. Delete the menu, set the track as first play with a jump to itself, and drop the m2v and ac3 file onto the track. Make certain the track is a 16:9 track

Burn.

Ours looks fabulous

totally agree on the aif thing - some people demand them though. who knows. Either on eor the other - don't need both.

Plus David is right - the ac3 bit rate is much smaller which give you a lot more headroom for video over using the aiff.
