It would be awesome if Canon could come up with an EF adapter for these new cameras. I know the focal distance gets multiplied (by 7, so I read on dvinfo) but maybe this way a wide fast lens could be turned into fast tele. Say, if you use a 20mm f2.8 will it end up like a 140mm?

My logic: 7*20x = 140x rather than 140mm and 140x is more like 4000mm or something. I don't know how to convert exactly from x to mm but I think 1x is about 28mm. Correct me if I am wrong.

You're probably right...I suck at this kind of thing.

I have yet to be corrected, so for now, let's say I'm right. :) That would mean if you put a 50mm lens on the eos-adapter you would get about 1.8x more tele since 50/28 = 1.78..... something. That means you would get 7*20*1.8 = 252x tele which is about 7056mm. Now that is some serious tele! :D

Building EF lens adapter for fixed lens cameras is next to impossible for reasonable money. It's just the laws of physics. It's no big problem with XL cameras because their lenses are detachable and EF adapter can be attached next to CCD block. We should forget about EF adapter for any fixed lens camera, but 35mm adapter? - no problem. They are already there (Redrock M2, Brevis etc.) and building one is not only possible, it's fun :)

Any chance Brevis might make an XL-mount 35mm adapter?

That would be very cool, but required relay lens and the price wouldn't be the same anymore, not in current ballpark. So far I believe only P+S Technik do that and include relay lens with Mini35, but it comes with "Made in Germany and multiply by 5" price tag.

I'm dying to see some brevis action on the XH G1 and XH A1...preferebly MY A1 and MY brevis :D But it'll take a while. The money I have from the Fx1 and redrock's are only good for the A1...which is enough to make me a very happy man.
