Hey guys thanks in advance for any notes you can give me. If there is a post already please direct me to it..
This is a multifaceted question:
I just did a shoot over the weekend with the hvx. I recorded 720/30p onto the Firestore. Now, I have backed it up to my computer (if I did it right) and also imported into a FCP Project. So I know the footage is safe or do I. Still not sure the correct way to backup Firestore to computer....
I need to give it to my client who wants to edit it on Premiere Pro 2.0. From a little research I saw that he will need one of a few types of software to deal with the dvcpro HD mxf files (cineform, dvcpro hd decoder, raylight ect...) and turn them into avi files. That in my mind is his deal to work out, but...
My plan is to record the timeline to a mini dv tape and give it to him to do his rough cut. The timecode should match when we figure out how to get him editing HD.
I want to dump my firestore to use it on another show. Will I be able to give him the files I copied to a hard drive or do they have to be on the firestore for him to import?
Has anyone used FCP to convert the mxf files to avi so Premiere can handle it? If so what settings? When I convert to avi using QT conversion it looks like doodey. I'm sure somebody has come across this...
So the long question shortened is this. How do I get files on my Firestore into a format Premier Can Handle? And how do I deal with the files in the meantime so that they are backed up and can be used later? As I said I need my drive for something else.
Sorry for the confusing question, it's just that I'm confused.
