Has anyone tried to use a glidecam with a 35mm adpater?
yes, works well with the ifocus.
which glidecam?
ifyou have the 2000 pro, and your using something heavier than an ifocus, youll need to lengthen the shaft and add more ewight to make it more comparable to a glidecam 4000 pro.
I would also suggest picking up a 24 - 28 mm lens ( wide angle ) to deepen your depth of field as to not worry so much about pulling focus.

I've been playing around with the Brevis on a stablilizer...and it's certainly doable. As Papa has alluded, you need to use either a wide angle or higher f-stops to deepen your depth of field. Once you set focus, you'll need to practice maintaining distance from your subject to keep it/them sharp.

exactly what i was thinking..just keep them in focus and keep them there.
what speed exactly Dennis? like a 1.4 or 1.2? 28mm at 1.2 or 1.4 is probably quite expensive...what about a 28mm 2.0?
i got a 28mm f2.8 would that work? and i'm looking at a glidecam 2000
my adapter is no longer than 3inches in length without the lens. any thoughts on that setup?

I'd suggest the 4000...it's a weight issue. A 28mm f2.8 should work, depending on the adapter itself.
I used a 50mm at about f4 with decent results.

I did some test shots with my 28mm lens and adapter...wow, you have to get really close to the subject in order to get them in focus. Am I doing something wrong?
papa you said you can get an extension for the 2000? how much and where?
honestly bro, the difference between the glidecam2000 pro, and the glidecam4000 pro is the length of the shaft. Thats it.
At the bottom of the shaft, where you connect the base plate which holds the weight, that can disconnect from the pipe. All you need to do is go t oa local hardware store and find some additional piping that can extend it around 6 inches.
i havent done it yet, but this makes perfect sense in my head with some physics behind me. Not even worrying about the weight of that extra piece, because it will just add to the inertia of the lower section anyways.
So go shopping in a home depot, bring the glidecam with you, there is a way.,

Hey PaPa I Pmed you but I'm just so anxious, I can't stand it! I have a DVX100A and a Glidecam 2000 pro, can you tell me the amount of wieghts you used for the Glidecam? I tried for about 2 hours yesterday, and of course I couldn't get it balnced right. I was so close with the LCD closed, and then I realised it was closed LOL, that sucks. But yeah any tips you have would be great, and I would love you if you OR ANYONE could post some pics on here of the exact positions of the weights on the Glidecam, I'll do it for everyone as soon as I get it. I think there should be a little picture tutorial on the web somewhere, maybe I'll do one, I got some webspace. Awsome video though PaPa very smooth shots. I won't stop until I get there. Oh yeah about how much did you pull out the pipe for balance. Thanks man!
Based on people's responses you can see that this works. But I don't know why you even thought to begin with that it wouldn't.

This is giving me a headache. I've got to balance properly, but when i put it in motion, damn things goes everywhere. What's the reason for this? Anyone have footage of a glidecam with an Adapter. Vibrtating? Won't the vibration throw it off a little as well?
I have the glidecam 4000
how did you start balancing it? My trick usually is I set the camera to it's shooting position (lcd open, battery in, tape in, etc etc.)
I start by balancing the weight from top to bottom, so the camera is upright, but not necessarily balanced right yet. Also make sure that when you drop from lef tto right, the swing it is at a slow pace, like dropping around 2 seconds.
Then go for the balances on the plate, get it looking upright top to bottom, left to right.
Then when thats done, I adjust the height of the bottom, so when I swing it it drops 2-2.5 seconds to bottom.
If you can't get the weight from top to bottom working, it is probably because you need more weights on the bottom. try adding 2 1/2 lb weights on it.
hope it helps.
