Hello Guys,
On Monday I'll shoot a TV Commercial that will be broadcast in Digibeta SP. I intend to shoot 720p with different frame rates. What settings should I use in a Final Cut Pro HD project? Should it be 24p?
With DVX100A I sometimes use 30p footage in a 24p timeline to get a little slow-motion effect, does the same idea apply with 720p?
Which would you use? Would you work on a 24p timeline or some different frame rate? Any ideas?
Thanks for the help.

If you're doing Alternataive Frame Rates to get slow motion effect, leave the Sequence in 720p24. Don't use the Pulldown feature when ingesting the footage, but you will use the DVCPRO HD Frame Rate Converter in the Tool menu to get your alternative frame rate clips to conform to your 24fps Seqeuence for the motion effects. Use the pulldown feature in the P2 Import window ONLY on clips that you shot at normal 24fps in the camera.

Here's how to remember it:

If you changed the frame rate in the Recording Setup menu on the HVX-200, use the pulldown feature in the P2 Import window.

If you changed the frame rate in the Scene File menu on the HVX-200, do NOT use the pulldown feature in the P2 Import window, use the Frame Rate Converter after the footage has been imported.

Sergio,

I you shoot 24p or 24pn, just make sure your pans are at the right speed to reduce strobing (you can see the ASC guide) if you're editing on a Final Cut system with Kona2 you can shoot and protect 4:3 and set the kona2/3 to downconvert and add pulldown to the footage- you can edit 720P 23.98 and realtime convert to SD digibeta for final output.
