Even though i didnt get too much talk or publicity, im still confident in 'Catherine' being recognized officially.

Cynic just curious. I remember what you said yesterday about your marks, how they went from 3 to 6-6.5. Well obviously most people put higher marks but my question is this: what overall mark for Catherine would make it as being recognized officially be? Coz if you consider a 6.5 the highest, just 1.5 above average (AS JARRED stated), then you place the official recognition of your movie there? Just curious to see how other members think about numbers.

Im not thinking 1st , 2nd or 3rd. More of a specific catagory recognition ya know. What would i rate Catherine is what you mean? Hold on, reading your post again. LOL.........

Ok, after completly finishing my Ballot and looking it over again. THere are alot of 2's. One movie has a 1.7. The highest was a 7, and average total...lemme excel this thing...

4.38 is my average rating. The ratings are consitant, so its not going to affect anything outwardly.

My movie rated by myself, rated at a 6.0 even, below a number of other ones i rated better.

When you placed your votes, were you thinking of Hollywood as a 10? coz I can see the 4.38 average coming with that in mind, but shouldnt you think that this is a dvxuser community and most people are broke in terms of budgets and first-timers? Isnt this a 'i hold your hand- you hold my hand' effort to help each other? And since you didnt review most movies to at least make a point or two about how one can improve, what was your contribution to all this? Unless there has to be no contribution whatsoever in all of this, then I pass....fold or whatever....

?? Im seriously confused by that post. Am i to feel insulted?

My contribution was my short, and i decided not to review all the films for 2 reasons. One, was i planned to do atleast half of the viewing and reviewing at the office, which became clearly not possible when we decided to do a product for Xmas and today was the deadline to have it to the replicator. got it done in time, the companies success comes before the reviews. SORRY!

2. After the loads of hate e-mail and near threats, i decided it would be in my best interest for the contest to not post my true opinions during the voting. Spite reigns.

Yes the boards are about helping, but MY view of it is, we all help eachother (which i try to do alot of mind you) then when the fests arrive , we use the info we gained toward the fest. You dont want to win? Some people on here do, whether you do or not. People are using 'marketing' as a strategy to get people to watch their films and vote. Its strategy to not help your competition. As you can clearly see, now that voting is over and ive devoted my entire post work day to turning in my ballot near complete when it seriously looked bleak at 5pm sitting in traffic rushing to get home to get it submitted, and devoted to posting general comments that should keep the hate mail to a minimum.

i wasnt thinking 'hollywood' i was thinking a professional looking production that had all the tools , that didnt distract me, didnt make me wish it was over or want to hit the fast foward button. Movies scored much higher with me when i wasnt thinking 'god why am i watching this?' and you know your love movie, dispite having heard those garageband loops a trillion times in a trillion different ways, was one of them that i enjoyed watching . i was interested by the different use of the loops and the fast paced work of it.

It's not meant to be insulting.

A)we all have day jobs or night jobs
B)about the hate mails, maybe you should sit back and think about why you got those
C)I still find it weird to look for the professional looking production in here, some managed to show that but that dont mean the rest are below average...the way i see it is that in every contest, every competition, the judges must have a clear sense of who and what they are judging, that is why minors get different sentences than adults, you or anyone else, want to judge these entries according to pro-look ,right tools and so on? its your call and you re entitled to it by all means! but that dont mean that its also the right way to look at it

D)as for my love movie (people might think its a porn flick or worse, the love of our life) thanx for the comment but it was not done with garage band :P ;)

who says you are the one to say that im right or wrong? thats your opinion and my opinion is mine. your C) just agrees with the post that i made and was forced to delete because of the flames i recieved in private.

maybe i should sit back and think about my opinion and change it? my opinion doesnt change, and instead of choosing to censor it and post a version of it i dont feel gets my personal point across , id rather not post it at all.

ya, we all have jobs, your point? i didnt bring that up, you asked me a question, i attempted to give a detailed response.

VersuS, it doesn't really matter how he determined his ranking scale as long as it's even across the board.

Sitting back to think doesnt mean you must change, you must or must not do anything, its your life. But since you publicly say that you receive hate mail and threat mail, instead of just saying it in a way that makes you seem like the abused party in this, sit back and think why would these people feel that way. maybe you realise that they are idiots and then you can still post whatever you want because its your damn right to do so, or maybe you realise that you're both right but in order to avoid any unnecessary problems just lay back a while to let this cool down...OR maybe you see some point in most people's problem with your attitude and decide to cool down, NOT CHANGE, but cool down a bit and stop being so snobbish IMHO

Click here to download the Emotional Piano 2 loop (http://www.cynic821.dvxhost.com/Catherine%20Production/Emotional%20Piano%202.mp3) from Garageband.

Unless you used soundtrack which i believe shares the same loops as Garageband, or another app has the same loop, then im somewhat mistaken, but thats why i said its from Garageband, because that loop is IN Garageband.

Soundtrack was used. Didnt know they shared loops! :)

It is not my right to do so, the forums are open to the public to register, but there is a TOS that i choose to not violate (anymore) , and it is up for debate some of the stuff , i would think, but i must pick my 'fights' for lack of a better term, and fighting the TOS and DVXuser.com isnt a winning battle.

Posting feedback is not always easy.

Im not here to make people feel better, but Im equally not going to say 'That was a load of old....'. We're a community of film-makers who need advice and encouragement. So you dont want to put people off making films forever by reviewing these films as you would Hollywood films - but equally Im not going to say 'This was Fantastic'... then give it a 4 in the voting process.

There were things i liked about most films, but that doesnt mean I thought the overall film was perhaps brilliant.

When I vote, I think I take the best film, give it a 9 or 10 then judge everything else down from that. That's just my way and everyone can vote however they like. As long as you're consistent and fair in your voting (i.e you're not trying to swing the competition by giving the films which you think are contenders 1-2).

If you're consistent and fair in you're voting approach, then it should not affect the placing of the final movies.
