I have a new DVX100B in the box! 0 Hours- not used at all.....I'm in the Bronx only minutes from NYC- $2800 takes it (save $700)
(If I don't sell it within a week- I'll keep it)
I'm going for an HVX200!

thanks for all the responses --
what is the life span of the DVX100?
Everyone seems to give age by hours used...do used cameras retain their warranty?
what do the cameras come with when you buy them new as standard equipment? I am a total novice and am only now addressing cameras - which is why I thought of initially getting a used one as the HDV is out. Preference is DVX100B as I would need to use the 24p option for documentaries...
I am in metroNYC area. A new dvx100b runs about $2800 at B&H with a 2 year warranty for $99
i see that this thread was moved from the DVX News topic but I cannot find where it was moved to...

I have a mildly used DVX100a for $2000 including shipping and paypal fees. It has 196 hours on the meter, but was used primarily for live video (therefore only about 20 hours on the tape heads and mechanism) It has been in a studio on a tripod most of it's life. Perfect shape - all original accesories and box. $2000 to your door via fedex.

Hello MarketPlace,
I have settled on the 100B but I can purchase a new DVX100B for $2800 from B&H in NYC with a 2yr warranty for $99, which sounds like a good deal. What is
the other equipment that your cameras might have and how negotiable on price?

The camera is $3,499.95 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home;jsessionid=F5kK4QBRFP%21-987066857?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=406855&is=REG&addedTroughType=search) before rebates. Where do you see a NEW DVX100B on B&H's website for $2,800?

This is probably a novice question - but why does Ebay have prices for new cameras nearly equal to the used ones on this listserv?
because its grey market.
Not an authorized dealer, therefor your getting no warranty, none of the extra goodies.

it appears that many of the cameras are advertised on Ebay for sale with warranties; how do I know what I am buying off a listserv?

I bought mine off of Craigslist from a local guy. I was able to check out what I was getting before I laid down the cash. My issue with eBay is not that you are getting grey market, but that you might not get anything at all.
When spending that much money, save a couple hundred dollars doesn't seem worth it. I'm thinking about sell my DVX100a to get an HVX200. There are places on the web that have the HVX200 for $4,900 and there are places like ones listed in the thread below that are authorized dealers that have the camera for $5,300. I'll pay that price just to make sure I get everything I'm paying for.
For more information about grey market, check out the sticky on this forum http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=10706

RE liifespan:: about 1000 hours before you should change the heads, I think. most people get extended warranties (i have a three year one, with one year left.
