It’s almost over! :(

Well done guys on a frantic festival, my head is still spinning.

I just wanted to say that the overall quality of films has astounded me. I think everyone has really developed hugely as filmmakers. As your all aware it’s one of the toughest industries to get into and I’m sure by raising the bar on yours films, you have made it that bit easier on yourselves. Again story was king, as it should be. Cinema photography has eclipsed anything gone before, (I’ve got to talk the wife into getting an adapter), and editing seems to be the least of worries for most. In my reviews I’ve tried to focus on good and bad points. Being honest I admire anyone who puts a project together and finishes it, so I tried to encourage as much as possible. Taking the risk of showing your film and letting people think/ review on it, IMOP, is the most important thing you can do to develop and grow. Marketing crept into the mix too, thank God it did! An area I failed miserably in and others excelled. It taught me a valuable lesson, what’s the point in putting all the hard work into a project if you can’t sell it to the public?

I’ve made lots of new friends and a few die-hard enemies, not to mention the people I’ve hacked off, with rushed thoughts getting into threads. Another learning experience for me! It’s personally been a rollercoster ride from uploading to reviewing. I’ve been elated and deflated within the space of five minutes hanging around here. I wouldn’t change a thing.

I applaud your efforts and hope you have enjoyed the experience as I have.

Best of luck to everyone.

I’ve been elated and deflated within the space of five minutes hanging around here. Sounds like my typical fest experience though this time it's been heavy on the eleated and short on the deflated.
I agree with everything else you said too so cheers!

And congrats to all. Four fests for me in a row and I think this was the highest quality on average throughout all the films.

I also thought criticism was very constructive for the most part with very few people leaving bad only reviews and even fewer folks spiking the football (being unnecessarily harsh or obnoxious) when leaving negative comments.

It was a great one. Zombie Fest will always loom large as very supportive and the first of the new bigger fests, but this one rivals if not tops it in terms of festival experience and community nature. In fact on the whole, given the quality of the films, it probably tops it though Zombie Fest will always be my fave for personal reasons.

Congrats to all the filmmakers and viewers, you along with Jarred and the the mods and sponsors made it great.

I think that throughout the fest I've talked enough already about my experience, the quality, the films etc etc.

I don't want to say anything else. The reaction to this fest speaks for itself. The quality I believe will be portrayed in the ballots.

I sincerely hope we have a good and healthy future ahead of us and take part in the next fests to come.

Some will not make it, others will have to work on things larger than dvxuser fest and some will succumb to the cruelty of labour ;) . However, none will be forgotten and the movies will always stay in their digital format that stands in time to remind me of my first DVXUSER FEST, OUR HORRORFEST!

Cheers everybody!!!!

If the future brings us all that is good and kind....maybe we can work together for a greek mythology film, nothing like the crappy Hercules tv series that makes us look so lame, probably something dark, something heroic....imagine Rez providing us the actresses....all dressed in their thin linen garments..... Ancient Greece Fest...

I will use this thread as a means of expressing my gratitude!

This was the first fest for me. The first film I've ever made. The first time I have ever shared thoughts with a filmmaker.

All in all, this was the first of an amazing experience that I hope will continue for me down the road!

I have talked for a long time (not only in my long-winded posts! :) ) but in my life about becoming a filmmaker. Well, in some small way... I have now done that. I have made a film.

I now want to become a successful filmmaker. (Yep. Just pushing the bar up a bit!)

Before this festival, I recognized a lot of the "handles" on this site. I now feel like these "handles" have become people that I know a little bit better.

It has been a real joy to see the way each of us have expressed ourselves both in our work and in our posts.

I look forward to many more threads, posts and festivals here on dvxuser.com

The greatest place on the internet!!!

Thanks Jarred, the Mod Squad, the sponsors and the users!!!

Ted, are you this friendly in real life? :)

It was kind of an empty feeling when the I was done with my short and uploaded it and made my own DVD for myself and archived the files away.

"Well, I'm done." I said to myself. "Now what?"

I've learned a lot from watching these films and seeing the BTS and the "how-I-did-this" posts.

So thank you all.

And bring on the next fest! I want to see if I can up my game and truly improve, or if I'm fooling myself. (please please just ignore the musical fest category on the "so what do you want" poll thread!) ;-)

No, actually... I am somewhat of a butthole! But no one knows it here!!!

No, seriously... I'd like to think so.

Thanks! ("I love you, man!" :) )

I know what you mean apollyon, I almost hit depression once shooting is done, then again when editing is done, it's like i have no purpose. I take solice in the fact that is ALWAYS something more to work on.
