Cannot import short clips via P2 in FCP

I cannot import video clips which are shorter than about 20 seconds. Clips which are 40 seconds and longer works fine - even if I create very short imports with help of in and out points.

I get an error unknow message, a red icon.

I am using FCP 5.1.2 and a FireStore FS-100. I am in PAL country so I am using DVC PRO HD 1080i 25P.

I haven't tried the P2Log software to see if there is a way around that way by using an external application

Any ideas?
