I'm just about to plunk the money down but someone told me that with my
MacBookPro, I need a P2 store because the laptop won't accept the P2 cards.

In that case, can I just buy a Firestore that mounts on the camera and record
to that and will that go into a MacBookPro?

Well, yes, but there's more to it than that.

No the cards won't directly plug into an MBP, but that doesn't mean you can't use the cards. You can use the HVX itself as a card reader, or you could get a P2 Store and use that as an offload device (which also works as a pass-thru slot for the MBP) or you could get an adapter from www.duel-systems.com (http://www.duel-systems.com) which should be on the market in the next month or two that will let you read the cards. So don't think that you have no choice but the FireStore, there are several ways to still work with the cards even with an MBP.

That said, yes the FireStore will work with the HVX, and no you don't need both, the FireStore can serve as a replacement for the cards if all you're looking for is a recording medium. And yes the FireStore will work fine with the MBP.

Awesome. Thank you! This could save me a lot of money if I skip the P2 cards and
am still able to get the job done (and who knows maybe at some point I would
buy some cards when I could but it lessens the $ plunge right now.

Funny my vendor didn't mention this solution?
