Using Edius broadcast 4.xx, last night I did a print to file quicktime. I changed the resolution to 1280x720 and saw a plethora of compression options. h.264 being one of them. So I rendered a 1280x720 h.264 quicktime. It was about 2 and a half minutes and was almost a gig in size, but I thought that was cool none the less. I didn't realize that Edius has so many different compression options. yay.

Jason

On a side note, when I want to render out an uncompressed avi, often times it is coming out squeezed. I am assuming because the resolution is 920x720. I don't see an option to change the resolution when I just choose an uncompressed avi of some sort. Do I have to go through the procoder wizard to be able to have that option, or am I missing something.

Thanks

When outputting directly from EDIUS and not through PCE for EDIUS, then you get whatever the project resolution is.

The problem with AVIs is that there's no standard for flagging the pixel or frame aspect ratio, so the decoding app has no idea what things are supposed to look like and just assumes square pixels.

If you want/need a 1280x720 (square pixel 16:9 720p) file, then yes, you'll have to go through PCE for EDIUS to have it stretch the image out appropriately.
