Hi all:

After enjoying the liberation that comes with owning a $3,500.00 camera that actually has as many if not more menu options and settings than many $30,000.00 cameras, I am wondering if anyone has stumbled across any websites that offer "recipes" for the DVX-100A, which settings that the user liked in the scene file, which gammas, matrix settings, etc?

Has anyone stumbled across anything like this in their web travels? I think it would be really cool to setup a website like this or perhaps even here on this website where one could post a still, lighting conditions and how their menu settings were adjusted in order to obtain the image. These types of sites are common for still cameras but I haven't seen this for the DVX-100A, other than a few posts here that had some info but not really an "EXIF-type" of system that lists all camera parameters.

Anyone?

All the best,

Dan B.

there is a book that just came out with a companion dvd.

look in the message boards for reference to "barry green" book.

it has very educational stuff on what settings give what looks plug about 1,200 other thing about your new camera that you can learn on your own by reading every single message on here, or you can buy the book.

I like the web site idea as well. Barry's book covers a lot of stuff including some looks that mimic some Magic Bullet presets. It would be convenient to just browse a web site for a particular look but you probably won't learn how to really know the camera as well by trying different looks manually.

I think most of the basics have been written about in various threads.

Personally i find keeping most of the settings around zero with the exception of the master ped gives a great image. Theres a lot of techies on this site (god bless) who go into to detail that most people never need....
