I see a lot of people using these what exacyly are they for?

There are a whole bunch of threads around here regarding 35mm adapters. And if you can't find the information directly here on DVXuser for some reason, there are also internet search engines that work just as well.

ive seen ppl use the m2 by redrock i was wondering are they really as big as they seem? do the size of the lens vary?

They are not quiet as big as they seem. But they do add quiet a bit of weight to the whole equation. The lens vary based on the operator and the scene. You can have a small 55mm lense or a 70mm-200mm macro lense or a fat 17mm-35mm lense, whatever your heart desires. With the m2 attached along with it's rail system and a lense you're looking at about 13lbs of total weight.
