It is a static solution for my DOF adapter but on first attempt the assembly takes under 10 minutes.

I used the extension tube for Minolta SR cameras and found out that you can JUST use an extension tube kit and you have all you need to assemble a basic dof adapter.

HOWEVER

I wanted to take things a step further....eliminating the whole need for a possible rail system (so far anyways) I used the bellows which fits onto a tripod.

The GG is still the proper distance this way because you simply insert it after the rear lens flange (the backside of the bellows) using the EL adapter which fits rear lens flanges.

The back of the EL adapter is THREADED.

All one has to do at this point is take the short extension tube that comes with the extension kit and fit the GG inside it.

From here its a cakewalk.

Every piece on the extension kit except for the additional rear lens flange piece (not need unless you wanna get fancy) is threaded so all one needs at this point is step up or step down rings, macros if necessary and a camcorder.

Like I said this whole project thus far has cost me

20 bucks for Minolta SR bellows and 70-210 telephoto zoom (Minolta MD)
8 bucks for Minolta SR extension tube

15 cents for 3 slides to play with...Good way to test out different materials for GG.
She also g
ave me some kind of plastic (that they dont make anymore) it looks like film and comes in huge sheets around the size of a vinyl album sleeve or cover.

Its frosted on one side and slighly opaque on the other.

Its grainy as hell...but its good for checking your focal distance on your lens to make sure you have your lenghts right.

So now its off to the glass shop to see if they can help me out with my project and afterwards onto the mall...to see what this thing looks like with an HC3 (just for the hell of it) and also a GS300 for arguments sake. (maybe I can slip an sd card in and take a test photo for you guys to see???)

Peace

On first glance it looks like I may have too long of an extender after the GG before the camcorder. However upon removal I find that its harder to get a good clear image.

Maybe I need a macro, however the GS300 I tried out today did focus in on the image, but due to the nature of the GG (greyish film) alot of light was not going into the lens.

I did this at Circuit City and the lights in there aren't the greatest, but I also realize that I need to get the best GG possible for this rig.

However in broad daylight, simply looking down the pipe gave me a pretty good image. Yes grainy, but pretty clear.

My buddy is gonna let me borrow his camcorder sometime soon, so when I grab some stills or some footage Ill post it up.

In the meantime....

What are the settings that people are using for the GS series cameras from Panasonic?

Are you using any gain of any kind or slower shutter speed due to issues with light or is not a problem when you use a better GG??

On a side note I got a free sample of non glare plexiglass..

Grainy as hell! But the opacity was perfect.

If only I could find some plexiglass without the grain, life would be great!

Peace
