I just got my DVX recently and was wondering if anyone had tried it out in cold temperatures and if so how well it performed.

I live in Fairbanks, Alaska, so I'm fighting the weather nine months out of the year with temperatures any where from 0 to -40 below.

Right now its about -20, alot of clients want outside shots, and with the plastic on the camera I was worried about body damage. 8)

-Thanks

Hey I was born in Fairbanks! Nice place! My Grandparents are still up there.

You'll definitely want to find a way to keep the battery warm. I've used the DVX out here in Montana and I haven't had any real problems. Then again, I wasn't working at -40 either. My Father did take a Panasonic PV-GS70 up to Barrow though and did some shooting with it. The footage turned out great with no problems so I suspect the DVX would act the same. You just need to worry about keeping your power going.

Bob- becareful with wrapping your camera with plastic because that can cause hummidity to your camera. I know theres special protective coats that you can dress your camera with. I've never had my camera experience that kind of weather but I'm sure its not good to have it out in the cold too long. Just treat that camera if as it was your son. Put some clothes on it and go play. As long as you're not getting any water or snow on your camera and you should be fine.

I'm meaby late on that thread, but I wanted to share what I shot while it was winter outside. I got the PSD NG message afterward. By the way, it's normal if it's showed in HD, I uprezzed it in post.
