Just wondering what everyone feels is the best software for color correction and different tones? I have Adobe Premiere and After Effects and if you know of any ways I can make those programs work better for me then please do so. But really looking for any feedback. Thanks!

You know, asking a question like that is like asking the meaning of life. It's not a simple one and the answer is not only complicated, but very different for each user.

My suggestion is that you study up on color correction concepts, buy some books on the subject and then see what you can do in your NLE. There's simply no answer to "what's the best color correction software".

if u got after effects then get color finesse (i think it is included in the 6.5 anyway). it is not the fastest but nice toolset.

i myself use liquid edition which has everything thsat color finesse has in the NLE...only before february (patch) edition will not capture 24p.

I am comfortable with the Matrox color corrections plug in . Mostly because they are realtime in my set up. Without them I would use the Prem Pro plug ins.

Also I agree about boning up on color corection via some reading. There is definitely an easy way and a hard way to do it and it is important to have a proper workflow for this process (otherwise you can chase your tail all day)

Thanks for all the advice. But if you could name off some programs anyway, that would be great. Thanks again!

the Color Finess plugin is the only piece of software I would recommend actually purchasing. Most NLEs can do all the basic to moderate stuff.

How can I get that program? And when you say plug in do you mean for Premiere or After Effects!

Color Finesse is available from:

http://www.synthetic-ap.com/

But it's also now included with After Effects (v. 6.5, I think).

Color Finesse 2.0 is due out early next year.
