I am kind of interested in learning a bit more about the Firewire (for MACS) and USB (for PC) subject that is mentioned in the Manual. eg Firewire on a PC is not guaranteed and vice versa for MAC

Seems strange to me because it appears neccesary to use both to achieve different functions.

Anyone able to enlighten me on this ?

Firewire is used on both platforms for streaming live video.

When put in PC mode, only USB is to be used with a PC. Firewire works intermittently and then just stops working on the PC, so don't try it.

On the Mac, the opposite is true; Firewire works for file transfer but USB is not reliable when used with the Mac.

So -- never use the HVX's USB port with the Mac, only with the PC.

Thanx Barry

So I assume F/W to my PC Laptop with DV Rack is cool because it is live streaming video/audio data and for file transfers (in PC mode) I switch to a USB connection.

Correct.
