I just sent in my order for the XH A1 and will be looking for a good tripod soon. Any suggestions? Is there one you think is ideal?

My favorite thus far is the the Bogen 3046 (Black) Legs, with a Bogen 503 Head for around $500. Very sturdy, plus built in mid-level spreaders. It also has the center column which lets you get up to around 8 ft max... very helpful doing any sort of event work where you need to shoot over an audience. I have 2 3046's that have been in use for the past 20 years, and other than a couple dings, they work as well as when I got them.
Oh, and forgot to mention. They have been used with a GL1, GL2, and hopefully with an A1 in a month or so.

I have a Manfrotto 745B leg set with a 501 fluid head.
I have absolutely no complaints with it after using it for a year.
the 501 has a very smooth pan and the leg set gets you about 6ft height.

Im not a fan of Bogen, I know a lot of people use them and swear by them but.... anyway. There are a few good ones around. Strange but I do like Libec, I have used the Bogen 503 and the Libec LS38 and for me the LS38 was better overall with what felt like a smoother head. I personally use the LS55. Actually from tripods I have used you cant beat Satchler but good luck on price.

Yes, I had a sachtler stolen a little while back, about the same time as my libec head started to crunch.
I replaced it with Vinten legs, Bogen 519 head, gitzo 75mm ball......... works great

My partner and I got a Cartoni Focus and we have no regrets whatsoever. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

Can anybody recommend a good tripod for around $300?
I know everybody will say $500 minimum but I just honestly don't have that much and I can't wait much longer. I've been using a $60 dollar still camera tripod and it can barely keep still on a locked shot.

i have one at home, im on vacation right now. I think it was $80, and it works great. No complaints. Obviously not a $500 beast, but does the job. Ill link you in a few days if you can wait that long.

If you don't have complaints than why the need to upgrade? I'm looking for a better tripod, not another still-camera tripod. Thanks though.

The 501 head is not a fluid head and basically is a piece of garbage.
