Feel it would be nice to get a sense of perspective by comparing RED (a camera in develpment) and existing cameras that we already know.

Personally I think the Panavision's Genesis has proven that digital can be a substitute for film, so I'd like to hear som tech-talk from you guys. What are the simularities or differences between RED and Genesis.

Topics: The look and feel of the images, workflow, iso, shutter, you name it...

The Viper is also a good comparison. This "Zodiac" trailer looks promising. David Fincher shot the feature uncompressed...

I'd like to throw in another question while I'm at it... These expensive lenses like Cooke and Zeiss.. what exactly makes them superior. How does the Cooke lens contribute to the look of RED's bublegum still image for example? How would it look with a slightly cheeper lens?

i'd like to hold off a bit on the comparision till around december when RED will have more of the technical spec's finalized .. at the time the tuning if sensor should be near peak and there will be clips uncompressed and compressed to view ...

Genesis outputs HD ( 1920x1080) ...

We are not close to being done improving our image.

Hi there Jim! While I have you here.. What about the lens part of the question. I imagine that you've had a go with several lenses by now so I'm wondering what the cooke lens did for you compared with other lenses...

It's strange to see what Michael Mann got out of the Viper in Miami Vice, and what David Fincher get out it. Example: http://www.claudiomiranda.com/heinekenlg.html
Are these things lens choice related? Any thoughts?

Love the gallery stills by the way. Playing around with them in Photoshop is a blast!
