Jim,

Would you please list out the items you INTEND to release and when you PLAN to release them. An overview at this point would be good for those of us trying to get our money together. It's also helps in terms of knowing if we need to make plans for some temp hardware in case something we need is not coming out when REDOne does. Also from what I know there are prices for three things, two lenses and the body.. If you know any others or an estimate that would be cool. As I see it, here are the items I am aware of:

RED One
EVF
300mm lens
REDrive
18-85mm lens
Red Rails

Thanks Jim

Oh, and a suggestion, I personally would love to have the choice of a REDOne with a flat monitor, OR to forego the monitor and get an EVF instead (or at least pay the difference). I think there are many of us who would like this.. It's not that I only want one, it's that I would want the EVF first. Later I would get the monitor

RED ONE, 300mm, RED DRIVE and RED RAILS are early 2007 (target)
18-85mm zoom- later 2007
EVF- early or mid 2007
If you aren't disappointed with pricing yet, you are not likely to be with anything else we announce.

The EVF instead of LCD at a slight $$ increase is an option we are considering. Especially if we can get the EVF done in time to match camera production. We are busy over here getting all this together.

Maybe this has been covered in another thread before, but what comes in that $17,500 package? I was under the impression that it was *just* the body, no monitor or accessories of any kind. I take it it will come with a monitor [or potentially the EVF as you described above].

I am just hoping that both LCD and EVF are ready when the camera is ready. I really want both together otherwise i will feel the camera is not complete. I can only hope that the price of the EVF is reasonable given its specs.

Red rails would be nice if ready when the camera is available and it looks like being a very adaptable type of extra. I wish we had some idea of price but i know its difficult at this stage to set a price.

Brook LCD is included EVF is optional

Hey Jim,

First, thanks for responding directly my post.. I'm kind of a fan and that was very cool for me.

Second, I am not worried about pricing in any area where RED is concerned (You're right, ALL the pricing has been great), just wanted an overview so I could make plans. As for considering the swap on the EVF. That is a major cool thing that I am sure others will agree with.

However, since you don't have it set in stone, I'll simply say "I hope you can pull this off" and leave it at that.. Once you know for sure, or get closer to a decision, then I'll chime in more (Bet you hear from others right away though!! :)

Thanks again Jim.. This will be a good thread.. Just wait and see!

Hey Jim,

Looks like we forgot something...

Can you name what lens mounts are currently in the works, and their release schedule as well. This is pretty major since a lot of people are hoping to buy specific lenses until all of yours come out. I am going to assume pricing is not available on these yet.

Jim, all of this news is too exciting. I'm just glad you have found time in your very busy work schedule to inform us what is going on. This is fantastic...we all greatly appreciate your input on the project!

the lens thing is going to be interesting ... 500+ REDS reserved ...
and all will need a len (more then one for most) !!!
i'm finding used ziess primes 16m/35mm hard to find (standard and hi speed) .. new lens are available ....
used S16mm zoom lens very difficult to find ...
nikors and canon FD one can find easier then used ziess cine lens...
if the ole rule of "supply & demand" falls into place used prices will start to rise as the REDcore starts to buy lens ...

Jim, now that things have calmed down a little, what lens adaptors will you have and do you have an expected release date?

PL is the stock mount when the camera ships. Nikon and Canon optional mounts projected to be available in early 2007. Optional B4 mount projected to be available "later in 2007". These tidbits I drew from my notes. Subject to change, as with everything else...
