I have a PowerBook G4, HVX and Marshall HD monitor. I was wondering if it is possible to playback from the fcp timeline to the Marshall HD monitor using the HVX as a middle man. In traditional DV that was possible was the XL1 and VX2000 models. Is it possible in HD? That would be great. If it isn't possible, what are some alternative going out to an HD monitor from FCP timeline.
Thanks,
Donovan

Can't be done, HVX doesn't pass the signal through when in HD mode.
If you want a live HD preview on a monitor you'd need to get something like a Kona card with component or HD-SDI outputs, whatever your monitor takes.

How about a DVI to component converter to connect the Powerbook/MacBook to the Marshall from it's external full-size DVI port, then set as a second monitor and direct the Desktop Video preview in FCP to it? This is what I'm hoping to do when my Marshall arrives.
Any gremlins in this plan then please advise.

I did this with a DVI to HDMI converter and a PB and out to a Samsung LCD HD.
Seemed to work fine.
