Hi. I am going to shoot a little project (like a 1 min quicky) probably on 720p.
I was wondering if the place i am showing has a HDTV. Can i put the project on a normal DVD but in HD quality? Or do i have to burn a HD-DVD?
What would be the best way to show this on a HDTW without burning onto a HD-DVD or putting it onto a DVCPRO HD Tape?
And also, HDTVs can show Progressive frames right? So should i shoot this in 720p 24 or 30 frames?
thanks

On the Mac/FCS side, this is what you could do. Encode using Compressor MPEG-2 HD. Bring that into DVD Studio Pro and burn HD DVD (no menus... just the video). Use Toshiba HD-DVD player with HDMI out to project to HDTV with HDMI input.
Next option: Burn HD DVD (and you can use h.264 codec for this). Play it on a G5 Mac, Intel Mac or MacBook Pro (note that it won't play on a G4 Powerbook). Attach projector with DVI input and hopefully suficient resolution to handle this. Play from DVD Player out to the projector.
If piece is only 1 min, you could always take it back to P2 card and play out through component on your HVX to a component input on HDTV.
I suppose on the Windows side you could encode in a WMV HD-compatible codec and play thorugh Windows Media Player.

I probably should just keep my mouth shut since i dont know, but my guess would be that if the clip is short enough to fit, you could burn the video file as a data dvd, which could be played on another computer. But no I don't think you can burn HD to a dvd video disc, or more importantly I don't hink any dvd player could play it.

By the way, at least in my experience, you can get around 30 min of HD on a DVD-5
