Never used a camera that isn't tape-based. So I'm curious...
How do you get the footage from the onboard Red Drive to another hard drive while on set? I imagine that's the process. You shoot, transfer, delete the Red Drive and start over (probably have 2 red drives so when transfering the first one you're already shooting with the second..)... Is it as easy as plugging it into a laptop using firewire800 or usb2? Or do you need some other Red-based hardware to do that job?

Well first you connect your RED-DRIVE to the RED-HUB (using the approved RED-WIRE cable), and from there you can dump your data to the RED-STORE backup system until you have the time to import it to your RED-DELL machine while you munch on your RED-MCMUFFIN as you wait for the content to transfer.
Kidding, of course. :) I think there will be several ways to get the data from the camera/drive - they are offering full USB2, Firewire 400/800, and eSATA support, and I would imagine that the RED-DRIVE itself will be able to just plug directly into a computer for editing if you wanted to. It is, after all, a hard drive - and you can already do the same with P2 (albeit they're significantly smaller in size). What we know about the workflow right now is mostly in the post area, but all of these questions will get answered the closer we get to the actual release date. There is certainly a lot to think about!
P.S. - Greetings to Oslo! My family is from the area and I haven't been back there for several years, but it's nice to meet new some new Norskies - especially ones interested in Red! :)

Yeah I was wondering about that, Haakon being your name and all. Have meet a few in here from Norway, and I'm constantly trying to educate the right people over here about Red. That's why I have to ask these questions.:) Have to have answers when they start interrogating..
