Red Screenplay Competition Idea

I was just sat around and thought to myself of what to try writing a short about and I had the idea of maybe writing a short using my Red Camera Reservation as the title (Red #445), and attempting to build a credible short around it.

It then struck me that perhaps this could be a cool idea for all the reservation holders to have a competition based around their numbers.

Perhaps the winning entry could be used by the guys over at Red to film and produce it for the official Red launch party next year, to give the entrants a chance to see a movie-esque production albeit a short.

It might sound like a limited title to work with but I've already come up with a few ideas. I imagine there would be alot of THX1138 style spin offs, but that might not be a bad thing, we're talking about a state of the art camera here afterall, why not shoot something with a bit of a story to it for all the party goers and movie moguls to gork at!!! :)

Well, my robot trilogy is being done stylistically to mimic the Three Colours Trilogy. I've shot the blue part (Eve) and the white part (Birth) and the final part will be characterised by the colour red. Since it covers robots, Red #378 could easily work (my lead character model numbers were EVE2501 and EVC4772 - Eve and Rachel in their respective movies). Perhaps EVR378 should be my latest and greatest creation.... she'd have to be a redhead of course! :)

My idea for a short film based on Red#445 was about a futuristic asylum in which genetic experiments have left people with different physicalities. The most prominent being the colour of their blood. In this future, racial conflict isn't according to the colour of the skin, it's the colour you bleed. Those who are red blooded are considered to be the originals, and they are capable in all walks of life, the green blooded are stronger but lack intelligence and the blue blooded have great intelligence but are physically weak. Red#445 would be an inmate and would obviously overcome/escape or maybe unite the people against an opression or something like that... anyway the message would basically be that the Red blooded, the original, would overcome adversity and better in some way the others or the competition by being good at everything and not falling short on one thing... kinda like RedOne!

I thought that all up whilst having a bath, I know it's a bit crap but you kind of get my idea of what could be done with the name... I might just write it for a bit of fun anyway and post a link for a laugh. It doesn't look like there'd be much interest in something like this, makes a change though from people asking crappy questions to Jim et al lol.

It's a coooool idea. I got # 222. I mean, this number let rise a lot of terrific ideas. Never wrote a story in english. But why not... I'm in the short film team if you like.

I have a short spec-commercial planned for my reservation number, if I can get around to producing it.

I like the idea of some RED-centric content. I'm sure the RED guys and gals are too busy, but it would be cool to have some kind of contest where we could win one of those kick-ass watches... and some kind of camera discount. :)

EDIT: OK, i'll settle for a watch since I'm a watch lover.
